Private (recycled) proxies vs dedicated proxies?

Obviously everyone would recomment going dedicated, but are private ones still relatively safe? They're a lot cheaper, and I'm currently weighing my options. What were your experiences?

It depends on the risks your willing to take. Without knowing the history of proxies, its like playing a game of roulette.
