I wanna private label my new dropshipping product.

How much would it cost?

Is wholesale mandatory to do private labeling?

Is it worth it?

I know a lot of you first test a product and if it works then they private label it but I have money on the side and noticed that branded product tend to sell easier so I want to private label from the start.

Depends the product, order size, complexity of your labeling. It definitely creates a better trust for your customers but Only your provider could guide you, start finding contacts on alibaba or aliexpress and talk to them.

Ok, but in your experience how much would it cost?

Don't !!!! you don't private label a product just because you "think" it would sell well, the process is expensive of course, so make sure you've already proven that the product sells well, that you've a working sales-funnel, and most important, a positive ROI, the basic idea of PL is to rise profit margins, and build long term relationship with your customers, and of course building a tangible asset for your business, so you can't jump to that before you even start to sell ?!
How much would it cost?
it Depends on what you ant to customize, if you are only after editing the logo and brandname or you want to customize the product features as well.

Yes, private labeling is provided by suppliers to clients with large orders, normally it goes under Product customization.

Okay but product with no branding don't sell.

I used to sell tshirt with my own design on it. I sold them on my own website that had the same name with a large following on instagram.

Branding really does help with marketing.

I understand that you want me to start by selling generic stuff but people won't buy something generic so I won't be able to test anything.

That's not what im talking about, the design on your thsirt is not your brand, it's part of it but it's not everything, and i'm not saying here to sell a product without a brand, when you dropship/wholesale, the product has the brand of the original seller, stick with that and test product desirability first, peoples do buy products also for their utility, regardless of what brand it is, i think it's my fault i should've asked you first what type your product is you are trying to PL.

In my case It was. I had a brand on it which was also the name of my website.

I understand but most of them look like shit. I would never buy them. My 2 top competitor all do private labelling to change the packaging.
Also I cannot have my website have the name of the brand on the product in this case. My page cannot have the name of the brand on the product also.
The desirability test will be skewed. it would be like saying "shoes don't sell but I didn't try selling shoes with "nike" written on them".

peoples do buy products also for their utility, regardless of what brand it is
Maybe I don't know.
Of course if it's too costly I'll have to try different ideas.
