print on demand niche idea(good or bad)

I have spent months trying to figure out a unique print on demand idea and I think I have one. I could however use the wisdom of those who know more about this.

my idea is to use famous quotes. many well known quotes are in public domain. Things like bible verses, Shakespeare, and Poe that could be minpulated into cool designs. so my question is easy, what do you think is that a viable idea or should I keep hunting.

I do a lot of print on demand, the key to success is the same as any other business.

What is the unique selling point about your offering that compells the customer to buy from you rather than a competitor?

If you cannot answer that, then keep looking.

I tried a similar idea a few months ago and quickly made 100+ simple designs. In order to make it work you better create designs that stand out, people won't be interested otherwise. Look in POD stores for ideas of cool designs.

but, it is possible. cool designs seems like the fun part. I'm thinking putting the words in shapes related to the quote

Naively, yes. But it isn't that simple, you better research the market otherwise you will waste your effort.
 
You have to get into the Amazon merch first, or you want to do other platforms like Teespring, redbubble, etc.

I have all three actually, merch, redbubble and teaspring
 
How do plan to target customers?
IG looks like a big deal for POD.
 
I honestly was mostly focused on creating the product at the moment.
 
For those suggesting I check POD stores. Where do I look? redbubble and merch using keywords, or do I look on google.
 
Depends on the designs of course. I don't think it will be an outright banger if it is just a plain quote pasted onto a shirt.

Who knows though, test it out if you do believe in it.

Please, do you use a platform that already receives traffic? Or do you send free / paid traffic to your listings?

Every business I do now uses paid traffic and this is no different.

Anything else is difficult to get proof of concept quickly and is unpredictable, so difficult to scale.
 
If you want your own brand use prtful/printify/a local print solution + shopify/bigcartel/woccommerce ect...

If you want to make some random designs just go for redbubble/teepublic (protip use both).

If you are a famous but lazy youtuber just go for teespring (btw It's trash).
 
Your idea can actually work. Some time ago I see some good selling posters/ canvas at etsy.

All you can do is give it a go! If you are using POD, your outgoings shouldn't be too high apart from a site, domain and platform etc.

I've worked with POD in the past, just selling comedy t-shirts and I had some good success with it so why not?
 
If you do your own POD site, the best tips you can get is to lower the cost, ship faster, keep good quality.

I think it can work, but everyone does this. Everyone puts quotes on merch. You'll have a lot of competition.

But I guess it's worth a shot.

It works if you are a designer. Because you need to test lot of quotes and find a winning one to scale. Designer will eat lot of money... Once you find a solution for that. Try testing your designs on Amazon (FBM), Etsy and scale the winning design on Shopify using Paid ads.
