I think still possilbe yeah. I got kicked off for copyright, and had to start again.
To make that money I had to work full time for 3 months, using photoshop, before I earned more than $100. Then it just snowballed, and went to 500, then 1k, then 3k, then peak at 8k. That was with 3k designs.

If you aim for that on merch, my top tips is just do single image and single word + image designs. As single words from the dictionary, can't be copyrighted. If you DO decide to try phrases (that's what most people do, but ultimately can get them kicked off) you have to be careful to check the copyright of every phrase. THEN you need to be careful that someone doesn't copyright a design you stock already, which unfortunately is the mess of the copyright laws in most of the American merch sites. So that's why, when I got back into the merch sites again. I just do single images, and single words from the dictionary now.

That's because POD is just as much of a marketing business as affiliate marketing.
So rather than pumping Facebook ads and expecting an instant profit - it requires a long term campaign of marketing and getting the socials bang on.
TLDR - Yes there is money in this game but like affiliate marketing it does not happen overnight.

It's the design that sells in POD. You have a unique design that resonates with someone, they'll buy it.

It completely depends on a bunch of factors, including the amount of traffic you have access to, the quality of your designs, the products, the audience and so on, the only thing I can say for sure is that there is enough money on the table for that

Print-on-demand has a lower entry barrier, so it's already overcrowded. The competition in most niches is extremely tough, and the only way to succeed is by coming up with unique niche designs.
You can also make money on Fiverr as a freelancer. You can start selling services and earn money within the first month. I can teach you how.

Depends on what you wanna do when you say print on demand. I used to have a UV printer that could print up to A3 sizes. Better profit marginal, but lots more work and frankly not worth your time. I would go directly with suppliers and dont buy anything yourself, let them print it and send it to customers

It's possible depending on the quality of your products, which products you are selling (not oversaturated t-shirts for example), the platform or marketplace, etc. What is the plan to bring traffic to your products?

spreadshirt/threadless/fourthwall/amazonmerch/cafepress/ spring - Red bubble and another got quite strict recently, and also I registered on displate, but haven't uploaded anything yet.
There is no fast track key I found, all I done was copy a few popular designs on amazon and other places and made them a bit different different slogan or whatever, but now I would go to reddit, and probably browse animated characters, merch and meme coin logos.
Take my advice though, if you want to last the long term, stick to just no words and or just dictionary words or names or countries or cities. These can't be copyrighted. Otherwise you'll maybe end up making a ton of money, preparing yourself for lift off on another business, and then get the rug pulled from you because some random noobie complained you were using their slogan that they now copyrighted. Thats sort of what happened to me, which is why I'm starting from scratch and doing things the correct way. I would say you can use ai, but nothing beats drawing on a wacom tablet screen and making a high quality svg file. Ai, can bring your vision to life, but you can put the finishing touches on it, plenty of times I have built designs for another part of my business and overlayed different body parts to then trace and give a better illusion that the whole thing was meant to be.
Deifnatly try and make viral videos around your art too, like a simple 5-10 second intro to your brand range. I have a cat of a certain type for example, and I have a video about that. Adobe are planning to release project turn table soon, and with the new ai tools coming you'll be able to draw a 2d design, and rotate it in 3d, and save the output, so you'll have a huge range of things you can do with regards to similar designs different approaches/angles.
