Prince Harry spent £10,000s on a wordpress theme

Here have it from The Times instead?

Also seems it’s an American PR firm that overcharged them, money probably went in to Meghans pocket lol

Harry and Meghan are said to have spent tens of thousands of pounds on their new website, which was developed outside the palace machine with the help of an American PR firm.”

So not only did they spend that much tax money on a simple website. They couldnt even give a job to an englishman and keep the money in The community.

What a couple of melts

Lol that is absolutely crazy. Imagine paying the price of a footfall business when websites are supposed to be a complete cheap alternative.

That's one of the advantages of spending money you've never worked for a single day in your life.

This is just hilarious!
Someone should make a timelapse video demonstrating building a duplicate website of theirs lol

The price justifies only if that agency has done branding for them. I see that their Instagram page has the same colors and logo as the website.

lucky that person or agency who made this website. But oh yeah £90,000 for them is just like 100$ for most of the average earning people

Looks like they don't care about money at all.
I feel because they are ultra rich, don't bother how expensive. I feel they not a fool either. Maybe they paid so much also include lots of services behind? Means those people better produce real works and results must be instantly can be seem.
who knows?

I honestly have no words.

" Harry and Meghan have spent tens of thousands of pounds on a new Sussex Royal website to complement their hugely popular Instagram feed. "

This means they spent up to £90,000 on this:
https://sussexroyal.com/

Shoot up inspect element and you can see its just a wordpress site with some plugins, a site like that could be put together in under 24 hours with the right work ethic and content in place.

Also besides the point of this thread but they can't even use that site as the Queen banned them from ever calling themselves Royals or Susex royals as of a few hours ago.
Spent $61 million on their wedding.. why not spend some more chump change on a wordpress site.

The American PR firm outsourced the WordPress theme to Article (Formerly known as Exsite ), an agency in Canada. The theme was built from ground-up, it's not bloated and I didn't find any plugin dependency other than Yoast and a JS plugin.

Free themes and plugins mashed together are not a good recipe if you are charging a hefty amount. The agency overcharged them but what would you expect if your clients are rich enough to shell over 50K for a custom theme which could be worth 1-2K.

The agency did a great job with their price management. Jokes aside, in my country, the government is paying huge amounts of money for 1995 type of websites, so yeah ....

I think the price is about right. The website is well designed and the branding and colors are good. A lot of skill went into it.

Let me know if you ever need a website built , I’ll throw in the branding for free.

Did they work for those £10,000s? It's always easy to spend someone else money :)

Rich clients are perfect. But finding them is very hard.
The higher the price on a service, the more likely they'll buy, just to be sure that it's "the best" service provider out there. That's their mindset.

Imagine the high tier links this site is amassing from top news sites around the world. Sh*t, it has a DR of 63

Took me a minute to find you requesting a Shopify theme from @INCC here:
Luxfur please if available.

Also what theme is Luxfur please?
You can't figure out what Shopify theme a site is using? That's fine. But why would you try to come off as an authority in web development here? A lot of time and skill went into creating a custom site like https://sussexroyal.com/ ... It was done by an agency, they have to pay their developers.
Definitely not a random theme with plugins thrown on there. Did you even inspect element? Yes, they installed Yoast, big whoop. It's a good plugin, who isn't using it? And they used Wordpress as a CMS, who isn't? It's better than the other options...

And again, the media is exaggerating dude, tens of thousands could be anywhere from 10k-90K. It's funny how you automatically assumed it was 90K. For a custom site from any agency, you will easily pay 10k. And no they won't just throw you a divi license with some plugins installed.

They used an agency in Toronto where they currently live (bc they fled the UK): https://madebyarticle.com/

Anyway, they probably spend something like 15-20k on this and a whole team was working on it. An entire team the agency has to pay for. The average salary of a web developer in Toronto is 40-80k. I'm just saying, this thread is useless and shaming an agency for using a Wordpress theme with plugins when they barely are, is sad.

What is so odd about me requesting a Shopify theme? I love Shopify and I love its themes. At the time I was on mobile in a taxi and wanted to know before I got home. I've personally built a few neat websites but mostly outsource and the count of websites I have outsourced exceeds a 100 with a 1/4 portion of them being large quality projects with personalised branding, custom plugins and at times features that have simply not been developed before.

Now if you love being ripped off by all means I'll build you a website just like that in your own image if you'd like to commission me for £20,000 - £90,000. Hell I'll even rent out a 3 month pop office then fill it with employees and interns to make it all look like a nice legit agency for you since you like being screwed so much.
