I have an expired domain that has good metrics. But when I check it with archive.org and the waybackmachine I see that for the last year or so it always redirected (302) to an another website. I plan on using it in my PBN. Does it matter?

Without knowing the domain and seeing the redirect for myself, I'd hazard a guess and say that you should be ok. But if you could tell us where the 302 went then it might help - was it a company that simply rebranded and redirected their old domain or did it 302 to a site about viagra? It makes a difference as to how confident I would be about using it as a PBN.

I assume you saw the 302 redirect mentioned in archive.org? If so, you must understand archive.org always mentions 302, even if it was a 301 redirect. Not sure why this is, but I have several lines of evidence that 301'ed domains eventually lose all link juice.

Moral of the story: I wouldn't risk it.
