Sorry... not sure if this should go here or in blackhat.

If I bought a domain that had previously been slapped by google and got deindexed would I then have an uphill struggle to get it reindexed? or does google forgive and forget once the domain registration has expired?

Cheers

I've bought a domain like that a few years ago and it was tough to get it ranking - took me about 3 yrs (and then I stopped working on it :D

I'm not sure if it changed, though... (I mean how g is treating those domains)

Try to stay away from previously slaped domains, you will have an uphill battle.

actually, we dont know the level of slap..
it maybe serious or low.. but my suggestion is, do not take risk..
i also got one slapped domain, tried 1 year with it.. then sold it for cheap price..

Really? That surprises me a little bit.

I thought google would have to be more forgiving.
There must be a high level of domains that get deindexed and then abandoned for that reason. Some poor sod then buys one and can't understand why his business goes down the pan because its nowhere to be found on google.

thanks for your replies.

What is the best way/tool to check domain on this matter?

I'm unable to post links here yet but search google with keywords like how to tell if domain was previously banned and you'll get plenty of tutorials telling you how to do it.

Level of the slap? de-indexed is de-indexed it is not like you can de-index one site more than the next. In my experience these sites are a pain in the ass and not worth it unless there is something beyond exceptional about it.
