If a person hides their profile, is there a way to find out their previous user name(s)?
Is there a direct link available?

(Regarding the singular "their" - just trying to be more inclusive)

I think you can see their previous username without visiting their profile. When you hover on a username you'll see a small icon beside their username. Click on that icon and you can see their previous username.

It is only visible on their profile pages.

Two examples:

Lukmat was vinku before.
Cloutsy was SMMnet before.

Both have posted in this thread: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/should-i-report-pm-dick-or-just-ignore.1376800/

However, I don't see any icon against their names in that thread as seen below.

However, if I go to their profile pages:

The icons are indeed available against their names as seen below.

When I click on those icons, I can see that they were vinku and SMMnet.

These two members do not have anything to hide and hence have not restricted access to their profile pages.

However, one can hide the profile page if so desired. In that case, there needs to be a way to know the member's history.

You should be able to to click on their names to bring up this little small profile in a thread even if they are private and it should show.

Correct me if im wrong. Not sure who is private and has their usernames changed.

I don't know of a user who has limited their profile and has changed their user name either, but I think you are right, the icon should show up in that popup.

This is correct. No one can stop this showing on their profile apart from staff. Even then, it's only really done if testing username changes or something.
