Prevent newbies from creating threads!

I am only denying you from making useless threads before you've replied to other threads and searched around.

So, you'll be pushing people to spam with "thank you" and one-liners, thus ending-up decreasing the quality and increasing the mod workload. As I said, too many disadvantages.

Of those whose first post is a new thread, how many are legitimate questions, and how many are scams with 10+ people handing over their money/info before the thread gets deleted?

Not saying I support or disagree with the suggestion, but there's more to it than simply "let's punish the noobs".

Common sense though must prevail; If a person joins today, makes 1 post in WTB or HAF and it looks too goo to be true, then it possibly is.
It's better as a seller / service provider to request payment up front, in instances like this.

A good example is new account created for Fiverr reviews.

Well here is the thing. Argue it whichever way you like... there are so many ways to look at it on either side. The bottom line? you will lose a good number of new members. Some members join just so they can ask questions and get useful answers. People can still browse without an account.

I absolutely disagree with this one. Many people reg just to ask a question(s). If they couldn't, they might not reg. In fact, I created my account just to post one question (hence the stupid username). Then I had more and more and eventually I ended up liking this place and deciding to stay.

Let's be real, most newbies join to get help here. They would have no incentive to join if all they could do is read. They can already do that without an account.

I have to agree to this one. Just ignore the newbie's nonsense threads if you are so much bothered by those. also we have a really dedicated moderators here to do their job.

Rather than denying newbies the right to post, wouldn't it be better to have suggested similar posts show up based on their thread title and maybe a warning message stating there are similar threads to the one they are attempting to post?

I'm not sure about on xenforo but I have seen this done on other forums so it is possible. It wouldn't prevent useless threads completely but it would probably reduce them.

I have suggested this before but it didn't receive much of a response.

If your statement applied, I am sure our community will become more and more private and less people actually jumping on a thread.
So, once a new visitor comes, all he can do is just say hello?

I think JR VIP zone is very private already.
And I believe, if you wanna create post like this, do it there, so you're not embarrassing yourself in-front of everyone who disagrees.
