Hey dudes,

My companies putting a press release out this afternoon with BusinessWire and I plan on updating our website with the press release itself... I'm worried that Google might pick it up as Dupe Content.

What's the best way to do this?

Shouldn't be a problem... the press release will be in Google several minutes after release... I'd wait for an hour or two before putting it on your site.

It's not scraped, it's an actual press release for the company I work for. ;p.

Wouldn't I want to post it before the Press Release goes out from Business Wire to ensure Google grants me authorship?

Put it on your site after it goes into Google News. Many sites, including my own, put up their releases in their news section. It doesn't do any harm to your site.

I wouldn't. Let it be fresh from Business Wire, not fresh from your site. The press release should come from the press release company first. I have never seen one come from the site first. It's just not how it's done. It defeats the whole purpose of breaking news if it's already on your site.

you will be fine, my company does the same thing with our PR's and never had a problem before.. Just follow everyone's advice, and put it on your site after its been released.

Once the Press Release is picked up by google, you can get it on your site. There is no issue with PR, though submitted to many places, as such with other content syndication types.

No, I don't think so, depending on what you want to accomplish. A BusinessWire PR should be able to rank well on its own. I would want to keyword a PR with for a particular keyword... and even social bookmark it right away... if you're going to do this, then I definitely want the PR to be released first.

Again, it depends what your objectives are... but for me, you might as well write a rankable PR.
