Press release？ seems useless now!

I just bought a PR package and distributed to almost 500 sites!

Guess what?

Only 1 link indexed, and all others not indexed by Google!

Seems this service is out of date and have 0 value now !

I just bought a GSA service to index all the 500 links to sees if can get some results

That's not how a press release works. Press releases aren't typically used to index backlinks even though it should. Press releases are typically very expensive and are meant to provide traffic from a reputable source. Doesn't sound like you bought a press release.

This is a big problem I see in my clients a lot. Most people understimate OPR. If the press site is not highly reputed that is being perma indexed, most PR are posted in places that are almost as bad as classic manual profile links, meaning they are similarly useless. Even some profile links let you create a bio, which means you could be technically creating a contextual page for free, which better than paying for a shitty paid PR.

But you did right, I would have bought any trustworthy indexing package and see how it goes. Maybe the PR sites are so shit, that Google may end tagging your site as spam by any of the next core spam updates.

Who in the world buys a 500 PR package to their MS? Unless you have spent like 50K on that pack I think you have been reckless...

I'm not sure what you were expecting or why you even need those pages indexed, there are so many things wrong in here.

If you got the same PR distributed across 500 sites then that's syndication, useless nofollow links to begin with. Some times they can give you 1 do.follow link from the main source but the rest are all no-follow. That do.follow link is useless as you get this link from a site that has million outbound links.

Those are nofollow links and they are temporary so whether they get indexed or not is pretty much irrelevant. There are no SEO benefits anymore doing mass PR besides getting a bunch of nofollow links to even out the follow/nofollow ratio or making sure that your keywords are being used proportionally, but again these are all temporary solutions and these are very questionable to begin with.

Press Releases cost less than $10 - You are obviously not familiar with the industry.

Not everything goes to Bloomberg. There are FOX/ABC/NBC/CBS affiliates that let you publish for less than $10.

AP News also lets you publish for $10 and so forth.

Actually, Google had an update regarding press release sites several years ago. Many sites that had ordered mass PRs got hit so they rolled an update out to identify these sites and there's no harm these days. This also means that PRs are useless for SEO, specifically these +500 sites ones.

I've seen a lot of activity on reputation topics lately by Google. Still, some PR could be really powerful, well done and on certain curated sites. I've never been a big fan of low OPR PR unless you are going to parasite them which significantly increase costs by default (and why parasiting a $100 PR when you could be simply parasiting a free listing?)

But I'm 1000% confident that PR will work, but rightly done. Definitely those 500, unless he paid like 10K+ for them... I wonder which was the budget for that.

For $10 K you can definitely do PR but that's something different:

Daily Mail can get done for $1500 + $2500 Entrepreneur + $3500 Forbes and you have a shitload of money still left but that's paying for Editorial Articles.. there's a difference between PR and PR.

What he paid for was just mass distribution to worthless sites. He shouldn't even want those pages to get indexed.

I sold PR services for years and currently I can't think of any reason why anyone should need this cheap mass PR service.

Nowadays, it's hard to think of any reason to buy most of the linkbuilding packs…

Still, I can find some value if you can tier this. Thursdays are the new Fridays.

Unless you are paying big bucks there is no chance someone is going to publish a article to a high authority site.
A legit white hat link is very good. For example - from just one article in lifehacker i got 30k users in 24 hours.

The issue lies simply with that they get pumped out, no editorial changes are made, and the sites are deemed just dumps of press releases. Press releases really only work of you actually have something news worthy, where they will then be picked up and writen about, the rest just go on the internet as you released it and therefore is just a bunch of duplicate content with little value. I have seen a good amount of backlinks, but remember 99% of these are no follows so if anything they have some benefitr but not the value people give to these methods.
