I am going to throw a press release at a website, we are mainly trying to rank a subpage for a keyword, would it make more sense to point the press release at the subpage with the same anchor text or would it better to point it at the homepage?

you want to point the links at the page your trying to get ranked, so if you want a sub page, point it at that page. most press releases (like pr web) allow 3 anchor text. So you could always do 2 sub pages and a homepage.

Page authority and domain authority both help increase rankings. You definitely want the right anchor to the proper pages though.

    Hope that helps.

Awesome, yeah we are going to use PRweb actually. So three links with anchor text would kick ass. Do you know if PRweb is stringent on how keywords look, so for example if one anchor text was like exact keyword lets use example "Bowel Cleanse".

pr web does let you use exact anchor text, so if your getting ranked for big black balls you can use "big black balls" as the anchor will be fine.

Let me know if you need anymore help, I use prweb almost exclusively besides marketwire for my none US clients. (I send out 3-5 PR's a week)

They end up almost always getting picked up through a lot of big authority sites like Yahoo News, San Francisco Chronicles, etc. I think you will be happy with the effects.

Which package do you use? We are planning on going with the $199 pack.

I buy in bulk at like 60-100 at a time (and get an awesome discount) its been awhile since I have even looked at pricing but I believe that 199 is the same I use if I remember correctly.

For this company we are trying to increase serps and brand awareness. How well do you think these releases work for serp movements? We are trying to stay very white hat with this so we are doing press release, link directories, nicely done web 2.0s, legibly distributed articles, forum profiles on related sites, creating other domain blogs to link back to us, video distribution and doc shares, link trading with industry sites etc.

I would do the sub domain if thats what you are targeting.

Has anyone done any research on approximately how many backlinks you get, including how many authority backlinks, per press release from PR web? It would be nice to know so i can justify spending $199 per release on it before i try it out.
