Press Release.. Is it worth it and which service is recommended?

Ive done a shit load of seo by now but never have i included press releases in my work so im thinking adding some pr backlinks wont hurt..

but all the pr websites i go to they have some expensive paid plans... im loooking for a free service.

Is press release worth all the trouble and is it like any web2.0 like it will disappear in a day or so..

also which free service do you recommend and use?

as long as you are good at writing keyword dense news articles then you will jump in serps easily. I have only submitted a few to a current client's website, but have maintained a front page ranking with this site alone.
no anchor text or anything, just straight url in the content. They stick just as good as article directories in my experience.

Press Release is very good option... It not only brings you backlinks and authority but a good press release can bring instant traffic...

I have seen few sites which are always ranking for lots of keywords like officialwire... For example when ever i search acai berry i found one from their site ranking for it... It could be good source of instant traffic...

There are lots of free sites also but some paid services are worth money... Check before you submit one... Big sites get content scraped by thousands of small websites and that's why they will bring more backlinks also along with traffic...

I think it depends upon the nature of product or services being promoted. I personally stopped PR submissions as they were not generating enough traffic, which happens good enough only if your news gets syndicated in Google news.

As far as backlinking is concerned, it really does not make sense to me trying to submit PR every week to same IP address PR sites. I would rather invest that time and effort in building relevant, authority backlinks.

You can try submitting to see the results. If the traffic is good then why not? But if the sole purpose is getting backlinks then there are better options available.
