Press Release - Does It Help Your Ranks?

I've never believe in press release submission for SEO. I dont know but I culd get good ranks for several of my sites without any press release. But recently I talked with my AM in MoreNiche (for one of my affiliate campaigns promoting them) and we were talking a bit about SEO and he mentioned that most of his own traffic come from search engine and one of his best technique is press release.

I wonder is press release really help in terms of SEO? And if yes, do we need to create one press release every month or just once considering the next press releases will still be submitted to the same sites?

I say it can help as much as article marketing. I release on everytime there's a substantial change to my site, fake some quotes, stick in some links with anchor text and you're good to go.

Of course it does.
Not to mention that the PR itself can rank very well on it's own.

You can submit as many PRs as you want to, but I would either have them deep link into one site, or have them link into different sites.

A friend of mine released one on PRWEB - and got 100s of backlinks and a nice traffic increase. It was relatively expensive but considering the links and traffic he got - no more expensive than hiring an SEO firm and doing some PPC ads.

Use a free service PRLog.org and send out several PR everyday. Your first PR might take 2 hours to set up, but after that you can do them in under an hour. No need for 100% unique content either, so they are easy to do.
