hey guys,

i did a search and have not found any good answers to this yet.

When you do press release, you have to provide a load of personal info i.e. phone address etc.

I don't really want all this info out on the web, so just wondering what you guys do?

i assume the easiest option is just to provide fake details.

thanks
for the advice

we dont use ''fake details'' we use a '' Pen Name'' :)
basically , you will make up a name
an email address [email protected]
a phone number
a website of course
a physical address ( on some Press Release Directories )
and that' s all

thanks for the advice guys.

So to confirm i can use "PEN" address and phoen number :D

thanks
guys

If you or your client has a Google Places listing, don't forget to put the EXACT SAME business name, address & phone number as is in the Places listing, on the press release. When the PR gets picked up by hundreds of other sites, you will get credited with hundreds of "citations" and these will help your Places listing in the rankings.

thanks for the advice thats a good one for places

I use fake name, and fake details.

But I have a real email in case they require verification before posting my Press Release. Ideally you want an email address that isn't free (e.g. not gmail, hotmail...ect). Many PR sites don't like these emails.

I registered a junk mail domain and use that for all my emails for PR releases.

Hope this helps.

do press releases still have relevancy for SEO today? I think they have not anymore much effects concerning backlink power!

Definitely YES!
I wrote a PR a few weeks ago and optimized it for the term make money online.
It went to the #2 spot in Google News in 5 hours and to the #1 position in G News
a few hours after that.
As you probably know, make money online is a VERY competitive term.
If you do your PR correctly, it can very well go to the top of G News and
maybe even to the top of Google organic search.
Mine didn't make it to the top of Google organic search, or anywhere close
probably due to the term being so competitive.

Hey Hellonwheels,
Did you submit to premium paid PR release services to get that result? I always hear of stories like yours but didn't get the same result when I use cheaper or free PR release sites.

Your input is much appreciated

Hi Steven,

I used a site that has free and paid options. I used the paid option but it was
only $12.00. I optimized my PR for the term "Make Money Online" by using
this term in the 1st sentence, in the middle and in the last sentence. I used
that term as a hyperlink to the site I was promoting. You will have that
option after you write the PR but before you submit it. Only use the $12.00
plan because it works. you will also have the option to put your full website
at the bottom of the PR in an iframe so definitely do that too. Your actual
site will be a part of your PR when using this company.

Hey hellonwheels,
Thanks for your clear explanation. Being a new comer to this forum, I am amazed with the generous spirit from people like you. Thanks, this really helps!

By the way, do you think the PR effect wears off over time and we need to continuously submit new press releases? I found this happens with me for the free PR submits and I need to write weekly releases. I wonder if this is the case with paid PR releases.

Also, do you have any other PR submission site recommendations? I have personally used several such PrLogDotOrg and 24-7pressReleaseDotCom.

Thanks for your help

Steven:)

If you submit your press release to Gnews site, usually they don't need too much personal info. Simply give a pen name and your site url. Make the press release informative, or you can write some news about the latest features/service in your site/company. My client did it when they release a new plugin for firefox.

Try to do a new press release every month or so, treat it like any news story. What's old sinks to the bottom and disappears eventually.
