Preparing For International SEO

Hi everyone,

I've been facing a few roadblocks when it comes to preparing my startup for international SEO, I was hoping maybe this community could help shine some light on this issue. I've looked it up with no avail (almost.. more on that below)

See, we're a startup who's entire business is web based, and want to target multiple languages that can make-up huge marketable opportunities for us.

How we want to setup multinational SEO:
  • Everything under one domain whilst using subdirectories to strengthen our DA (eg. domain.com/es for spanish), no country specific domains
  • Main language being English, every other language is to be auto-generated with the option to replace it later on with our translators.
  • Each of these pages should have it's own generated URL which can be indexed by google (we don't wanna use any google translate embed, it won't help bring traffic :)
Now, I know there's a few all-in-one solutions for this, like localizejs for example. But these services seem quite costly. They'd eat directly into our ROI like no other.

Anyone have any suggestions? Bare in mind, we run on an entirely custom-made CMS, no WP plugins will save us. Our development team can implement custom strategies and API's to make this happen, however we're not sure on where to even begin.

Looking forward to what you guys think!

What are you asking exactly? Why did you opt for your own custom-made CMS? I think WP could have handled this, it also has API. What do you need APIs for? But your strategy w/ subdirectories is fine.
