Pre-populate Zip Submit based on Geo Location

I have an idea to run a set of zip submit offers where the zip code field automatically gets filled in when the person comes to my page based on their ip. I've been looking for a geo-location script that could pass the zipcode value to my CPA offer to no avail.

Does anyone know of a script that'll return to me the zipcode of a user that I can then pass into the URI of the affiliate offer?

No I was not. What is ICP? Anywho, this is something i've always wanted to do but never got around to figuring it out. It sounds like I should not be that hard...but I dont know of any script that'll return Zip Code data that could be appended to a affiliate string.
 
would it have to be their real zip? or could it just pull up a random zip code from a database?

You have your own form or you are using form in Iframe?
If you have your own form - filling up is trivial
Buy if you have affiliate form in ifram - how you want to pass browser's securities?!

this was a tool and method on the now defunct ICP forum. It is possible the the programmer will be releasing the tool to the masses but not confirmed. I might point him in the direction of this thread.
 
My plan is to pre-pop a zip submit via my form on my landing page...and then just have the user click and have the zip code pre-populated to the CPA landing page. I didnt want to do I-frames or anything...although i'm open to that option

While it may be possible to do this, I doubt that it will be very accurate because the person's zip code might be several zip codes away from where his/her ISP is located. You may end up causing the visitor to delete the incorrect zip code and add the right one (or say "Hey, that's not my zip code. WTF?").
 
true, but i'm trying to increase my conversion rates......just something i'd need to test i guess. In theory is this should not be too hard.....maybe i'll put out a bid on scriptlance.com and see what happens.

Just any zip submit. It does not matter, they are all the same. For instance...the GAS card zip submit offer or the healthy samples zip submit.
 
The problem is the zip and email submit CPA offers have a page 2, 3 and more and if none of your visitors click through page 2 you will get banned, maybe not right away but eventually.
 
If I am not missing something, all you want is to know the zipcode for an ip address. I personally use maxmind geolitecity which is free and pretty accurate .... www . maxmind . com/app/geolitecity
 
epoch, this looks to be exactly what I need.....so with this script I can parse the IP of a visitor and then resolve a zip code....then take the zipcode variable and place it on my landing page?


Looks pretty straight forward...but i'd need to test it out.
 
they have sample code for various languages ... you can download the data in csv too ... its faster to work with binary file though.
I use it on every hit on my website so performance matters quite a bit in my case.

I think I know what youre talking about. I have a script for prepopulating an email offer. I guess its pretty similar. But to get it to work you still have to ask your AM if your affiliate network accepts pre-pops, because you need to attach that code on the script to get it working. So if you dont get that code from your network its pretty useless.

I dont know how to use it, but I got it as an incentive. :)
 
Is it being claimed that its possible to control form fields on a remote website without the remote websites knowledge/cooperation?

As far as my experience has shown, this would be considered XSS (cross site scripting) and most browsers/servers have their security pretty tight around that.

If the CPA offer has pre-population already on their offer page then I can understand how its possible, but without the cooperation of the website/domain of the CPA offer, I cannot see how it would be possible to pre-populate a form field on a remote website.
 
How are you popuplate the zip code to the form in the page that is not your own? I mean it is trival to do if you hosting your own cpa offer which reside on your server. But to fill the form on another site being iframed from your site, it would be a browser security breach and cannot be done.
 
well I didn't realize previous poster already posted before I was posting last message.

I think some of cpa have their own autofill feature that prepopulate city, zip, area code, etc.

For you to popupate the cpa offer, this cannot be done unless you do it on the client side, that would be a totally different beast. stealthware anyone?
 
maybe hire a programmer to quickly make a form filler upper, then create a quick GPT style site, and promote it on the fact that each offer can be filled with 1 click of agreement after downloading your site's form filler program.

i wonder if its legal tho, i heard that pre-pop isnt really wanted by advertisers
