Just a few words to the contrary of what everyone else is saying - and this is coming from experience.
First of all keep praying no matter what. I agree with others, take action but also keep praying.
I had a tough childhood and was in a shelter with many children that were left too long with abusive parents. Some were 14 and could not read, some were severely burnt from negligent parents, and my best friend had a permanent limp because his mother's boyfriend beat him until his leg broke....and didn't call the hospital until a week later. He never played sports, he never road a bike, never road a skateboard. All because CPS took too long to find out what was going on despite being called to their house several times.
As you can imagine, I see things a little differently - and proving you are a good parent is part of being a good parent. Which you have done. I see that you have done nothing wrong, the system just took months doing sometime that should have taken weeks.
From my understanding of your post, your kids are back with you, and now you are trying to sue the cops and CPS. I would advise not to waste a lot of time an energy there. Spend it making money and doing IM. I have been discriminated against horribly at least 3 distinct times in my career as a black professional. Each time people criticized me for not standing up and fighting. Yes, it might make things easier for those who come after me, but so would me being successful. When I was released from my last job, although the company was doing bad, it was well known that the CEO was not fond of black people or the fact that I was paid so much. It was brought up to me on numerous occasions. When I was let go I had a law suit on my hands. A pretty damn good one at that.
Instead of wasting my time in court, with lawyers, etc...I put that energy into finding another job at a better company and working on IM. The only way to change how people think about you is being the best you you can be. Winning a law suit won't change any opinions. If I was fighting that court case I would not have had time to do any IM, which is now turning out to be way more money and freedom then I would have won. In fact, if that racist bastard never let me go, I wouldn't be doing IM at all.
My point is, fighting the cops will take a lot of your resources. Money, Time, and Emotional energy. You have 8 kids bro. Those kids could care less about the cops and proving a point to CPS. They want time with their father, toys for Christmas and they want you there when they are playing sports. Your wife/baby's mom needs your support as well.
By continuing to fight the cops and CPS you are letting them continue to steal even more precious time away from your family. Put that energy into IM and get rich.
Getting rich fixes a lot of problems.
Either way my prayers are with your family and everyone's families on BHW this season.
