PR improving but search rank still dead?

Really curious about this one because I thought a higher PR would get me somewhat listed on google results.

My site is at PR2 but still nothing at all, not sure what gives.

Should I increase the number of links coming in?
Is my traffic maybe just too low, despite having a higher PR?

The keywords are not competitive at all at least that's what googles keyword tool says.

The Google Keyword Tool's competition function is somewhat misleading. When there's only low, medium, and high; it doesn't really describe what's actually going on.

Use SEO Quake, which is a Mozilla or Chrome plugin that lets you see what's actually going on in the top 10, as far as page rank, age, and a few other factors. Just Google it, and it's super easy to use.

Just having the higher page rank doesn't mean you'll rank higher. Make sure your On Page SEO is done properly, and keep some links coming in to help push your site up further. Basically do the on page and the off page.

Also when choosing keywords using the Google Keyword Tool, make sure to un-check "broad," and check "exact." This will help you better predict what kind of traffic can come from your keywords.

On the google adword tool, the competition value refers to the competition amongst advertisers - it is not representative of how easy/difficult it is to rank for the keyword. You can use traffic travis (free version) to get a rough idea of how easy it is to rank based on competition's on-page SEO and no. backlinks etc.

i think google adword tool is good to know the competition.

I have some Wordpress that I have writers creating custom content for, but I can't get their PR rank to increase. I have tried some backlinking and nothing moving in the right direction. What's the single most important thing someone can do to increase PageRank and increase their search rankings?

PR and ranking for your keywords are not the same thing. You can have a high PR site and not rank for any keywords or have a low PR site and rank for a bunch of keywords.

To rank and get traffic you need to concentrate on your keywords when you build links and not worry about PR.

As far as competition goes what you need to do to find out how competitive a keyword you are targeting is look at the results on the first page when you do a search. That is your competition if you want any traffic, you need to look and see what it takes to get on the first page.

the PR and the your site's authority for the keywords you are contending for are totally different.

Focus on the keywords you are contending for by building links on it and focus less on the high PR links pointing to your site (although you can combine the two).

To get listed top in google,you need to generate a quality backlink plus relevant do follow links which also help you in increasing traffic to your site.

How many links does the site have indexed now? Then look at your competitors on page 1 and see how many they have indexed. This is usually what I do to gauge competiton, I check PR, amount of indexed links and age of domain among a few other things

It will help you in determining how much work you usually need. I find that if I can have more backlinks than the competitors, better onpage optimization and good content that I will rank higher than them 99% of the time.

First of all page rank has nothing to do with the Google ranking & if you check on some niches you will find plenty of examples that sites with low pr is beating sites with high pr for the top 5 consistently .also Google keyword tool shows adwords competition for the searched term not the other way around.anyway i think none can give you a clear idea of what might be causing your problem without doing an in depth analysis.it will be like throwing stone blindly hoping it will hit something!
