I don't use profile links much but when I see a website that has multiple PR5 and PR6 pages which allow comments linking to the profile page, I do make a profile as it is then worthwhile.

I really value Micallef's work which is why I'd like him to expand his comment. I think I know what he means, but I also think his suggestion could be too important in the long run to misunderstand.

Its now indexed after 1 hr!

what i did was use site:http://www.grindtv.com/profile to find all the high pr profiles and commented on them which leaves a backlink to your profile that google will follow.

then pinged all profiles i commented on and my profile i created.

You get lower PR than the OP's but you still get short term juice.

The trick here is to keep the juice!

This is the same as like Angela's packets. Once they get picked up, if they get picked up, the juice may last for days or forever!

I have had hundreds of links show up with nice PR, only to drop off in no time flat.

If you have a steady flow of high PR links of this sort great. But you need a boat load to make a difference.

no reason to use this as backlink then right..

you could also try to comment on only people who seem as if they dont use their profile much or is old and wont care if someone has commented on it...

Some beginners may not like their profiles being viewed without logging in.

Profile links in isolation have a limited impact but do help to get sites indexed or if you have many thousand of them have some impact (but this of course raises other issues in terms of a high propensity of profile links in the linking pattern..).

Profile links however can be even more effective if you take the time to position comments upon high PR pages. Your profile link on most forums is referenced upon any post you make thereby creating link flow through to your profile page (where you referenced your money page, web 2.0 property for example). Therefore, linking from high PR pages which in turn release link juice back to your profile page is very effective.

Take some time to think about this and the power of Scrapebox and you will put the pieces together.

As a newbie, I really appreciate the hand-holding that this post provides.

I used Scrapebox, using about 50 proxies with 1000 results specified, to do a Custom footprint harvest for site:http://www.grindtv.com/profile on Google.

I then eliminated duplicate URLs, exported to a text file and removed all of the sub-pages so that each URL was formated like http://www.grindtv.com/profile/USERNAME.

Again using Scrapebox, I then checked PR on all of them. Unfortunately, they all came back with N/A or "--" (I'm guessing this means "No PR").

A few guys have posted that they are getting profile pages with PR, but I am not.

Am I doing something wrong?

I didn't use Scrapebox for finding the high PR profiles. I did it manually, but I don't know about the others.

By poking around the site, I was able to find some PR 4 and 5 profiles that I added comments to their pages. I then bundled it up into a RSS feed and submitted it. Hopefully, I'll see some backlinks out of it. The sites I'm working on are indexed but under a month old, so I'll take the bump, even if it is short term.

I'm decided to do a little digging around manually as well. It'd be greate if Scrapebox could find them for me - but, oh well.

I'm pretty new to this whole SEO thing, so I'm not clear on what exactly you mean by "bundled it up into a RSS feed and submitted it".

Can you elaborate or point me, and the other newbies that read this post, somewhere that can help explain?

I took all of the page url's and combined them into an RSS feed. I then submitted the RSS feed to a few RSS aggregate sites.

I appreciate the effort and contribution of the OP, but on my side, i don't think it worth to try. This isn't the first thread with a website of PR7 with possible profile. But they are PR0, and we don't have any proof that it can be higher.

Just my 2 cent.

You got a few choices. Use it and get the backlink to count in your battle to unseat one of the top 10 sites. When I put in a keyword into MS it only gives the number of backlinks said site has. It and others don't care the pr of the backlink. The viagra boys aint worrying too much about that. Just check their backlinks !

Or you could take a profile page that is pr0 and then start building backlinks to it "profile page" and make comments with it to increase the pr of your profile. That is in a sense what Angela did with her backlink article on go#rticles dot com. She build massive backlinks to it and now the article itself has a pr of 3.

So to me it's really how you want to use a profile. leave a link and get it indexed. Or cultivate it and turn it into something bigger. Do a search here for backlinks black belt report. It's a good one. And yes you do want your profile visible without being logged in. Ol boy talks about that in the report. The only ones who'll see your profile are those who know what their doing or are part of that forum. That's why you should not use the same username all the time anyway. Makes it easier for your network to be found like peeps like yours truly !

If I run across some other profiles I'll post them. BHW has saved me a lot of time and MONEY !

I've posted a few comments on pages that have PR=3 and above. I found them by manually digging through the site and using ScrapeBox.

Now for my questions:

1) What is MS?

2) Who are "viagra boys"

3) Who are "OI boys"

4) By "cultivate it and turn it into something bigger", do you mean build it's PR?
