Hi! I recently brainstormed and got a great idea for traffic to a webcam affiliate website. There's a hard choice to make tho, Revshare or PPS. I know there's alot of these threads, and everyone recommends revshare. But i wanna talk to you ( The webcam affiliates ) Directly.

I did my math, here's my situation:

PPS: $125
Revshare: 35%

Bad thing about PPS: The customer needs to spend a minimum of $25 for the PPS to activate.
Bad thing about Rev: The customer needs to spend $358~ so i can get $125

Now, there isn't a big chance of the customer spending $358, right?

And even if the customer spends $10/week

It would take 36 weeks for the revshare to perform better than the PPS

Now, if you still say that Revshare is better, please post screenshot proof of revshare VS PPS or something, they say that revshare pays of in the long run, but who would spend $350 on a cam website? And if, that's like 0,5% chance that customer would join under my affiliate link.

Thank you in advance,
Sebbe :)

Over the long term revshare is the winner by far. I mix it up between both though depending on the program and the traffic source. I don't think you will have much luck at getting affiliates to post screen shots.

It all depends on how fast you want your money back. If you can ride out the expense to get your traffic rev share is def the way to go, but if you need to generate cash fast to keep your ad buys going PPS is a good option as well.

but there isn't a big chance of a customer spending $350, right?

rev share is about quantity, many ppl spending little money and sometimes you get a big spender

I also prefer PPS. Revenue share sucks according to me

There is a big chance of a customer spending a lot lot more than $350.. if you wait long enough that is.

These PPS offer amounts are not made up out of nowhere.

Your traffic quality is the key to your answer. I've been working around webcams for a few years now, and you're not addressing your biggest problem. As someone said above, those numbers aren't made up out of nowhere. There's a reason they can offer that much on PPS, it's because they expect that over time, and on a larger scale, they'll be able to make an avg ROI of that per signup that you send.

It's a bit of a catch-22 in a way. If you send to revshare and your traffic is shitty, you won't see a bunch of money and you'll want to do PPS. That's fine, and you might make more at first, but no one is going to continue to pay you out on that PPS if your traffic doesn't convert for them as well. There's metrics in place to calculate what your sales are worth, and if they're not paying out on the backend you'll get forced to revshare usually. It's common sense really, it doesn't make sense for them to pay you $125 per sale if your customers are only averaging spending like $40 or $50. If you run PPS for a long time and don't get switched, you actually might want to ask yourself why ;)

There are situations where PPS makes more sense though. If you don't plan on being with the company long term, then obviously you wouldn't want to start building something that'll tie you to them for years potentially. Another situation might be that you don't have the time to wait for the revshare to materialize for you in a meaningful way. In the end it's really dependent on you and your traffic/situation. One solution you can try as mentioned above as well is to maybe run a couple of weeks on PPS to put a little money in your pocket and then switch over to revshare, or maybe split your links between the 2 right off the bat. Good luck in your choice though, hope it works out for you.

Edit: Meant to throw this in there somewhere and forgot, but the idea of a customer spending $350 over the lifetime of their membership is not at all out of the question. It depends on the program, and it goes back to your traffic quality a bit as well, but if you're sending any kind of volume you'll start to see some of the potential there is if you can see when/how much the customers spend. Some programs charge a monthly fee though, so automatically you'd be making a piece of that monthly membership fee, then there might be some kind of tokens/gold or whatever the "currency" may be that customers will spend money on as well. I hate to sound like a broken record, but it's really going to depend on your traffic quality, there's just no way around it, that's what it'll come down to in the long run.

indeed rev share seems the best and safest way on the long term, with what programs you had the most success on revshare?

Going revshare is a great idea, especially when you can do it on you non converting traffic and then you can also have some pps deals on the same time...
