PPI nightmare

I thought to myself "all they have to do is install some harmless software and I get paid". So I was eager to test it and I downloaded their exe and installed it. To my surprise, all of the sudden a lot of programs started to install on my laptop one after another and I wasn't able to stop them. There were being installed in all possible locations on C: and I started to get commercial popups on my screen and other annoying stuff. So I re-installed Windows.
I think my visitors would scalp me if they had to go through the same experience.
This is why I'm here. To ask you guys, the PPI experts: are all PPI networks like this? Do they all install tons of programs (including malware - as i was notified by my av)? What network(s) do you recommend?

Decent networks wont do the maleware shit. And another tip: use a virtual machine next time you want to try unknown .exe. Saves the hassle of reinstalling windows.

After partially failing with ppi I decided to keep focusing on cpa which I've been using so far. The thing with cpa is that most of my traffic complains that they're required to buy stuff while completing the offers. I currently use Sharecash and Adworkmedia and I only need to find a way to select their offers.
