Posting website sale's ad on the website itself

One of my website gets about 500 - 1000 unique visitors a day, of which 20% visit the "contact" page.

Do you think it would be a good idea to put an advertisement regarding the sale of the website on the sidebar or header or both on the website itself regarding its sale?

it kinda looks desperate and unprofessional to me.
i think posting it on flippa or smth is the way to go

There is nothing wrong in doing it. Your competitors might be visiting that contact us page and they will happily take the website for good price.
