I'm trying to understand how these accs gained so many followers by posting literally the same content every day. How does instagram still give them full reach when they post the same thing for 200 times in a row?

Another interesting thing is that some reels get 3K views while others get 400K. What causes this big discrepancy? It's literally the same content.

Can anyone offer any insights into this?

They make small changes to the video, so for Instagram, each one appears as a different video.

If you do this with a good video that has already gone viral, you've got the system up and running. What goes viral once will go viral again.

Another vital thing is to make sure if you are reposting content, you would need to change the meta data and hash of the reels. That is vital when it comes to uploading the post since it tags the content as "unique" and can help with exposure.

IG is quietly saying that we are overthinking too much. Volume still beats everything.
Find key metrics that define content virality and abuse the hell out of it.

Instagram doesn’t look only at “newness” — it looks at watch time, saves, shares, replays, and early engagement, so even repeated content can go viral if people keep interacting with it.
The 3K vs 400K gap comes from luck + timing + first 1-hour performance + which audience it gets tested on — some versions simply hit the right micro-audience and snowball.

Engagement drives reach, not originality. Early interactions decide if a post blows up or stays small.

Even identical posts can perform wildly different depending on timing, hashtag mix and which followers happen to see it first. Early traction essentially sets the ceiling for reach.

A lot comes down to which users the algorithm tests the content on first if it hits the right audience, views explode; otherwise it stays small.
