Posting my content on competing sites

Would it be a good idea to post original articles which have been indexed on my sites for three + weeks onto a competitors site?

I am in a niche which mainly allows content sharing, would this practice allow me to gain in the serps by using my already indexed content on other sites?

Just type up new unique content with your links in it.

Don't put up dupe content. DON'T put anything related to your keywords on another page, you don't want that article to outrank your site.

If your keyword is "Aluminum Gutter Nails" don't write an article about aluminum gutter nails. Write it on rain, or roofing.

And no, you wont GAIN rank, you will LOSE rank.

Steal your competitions articles, post it on other competitors sites. Link to yours if you can. Do not give away your unique content. Ever.

If your competitor is ranking well in the SERPS, you DO want to put related content on their site with a link back to your site. That would be a premium link: high ranking site, relevant content to your topic, in context link.

They will only outrank you if they build more links. If they are a strong domain they will outrank you initially, but when you get more links you'll outrank them.

That doesn't seem particularly helpful as one of two things may happen:

1. You get a traffic leak to your competitor's website as some people shift over there through the SERPS.
2. You both get harmed for dupe content.
