Posting links in backpage ads

I am finding that when I post a link in a backpage ad that once the ad goes live, the link does not resolve to the appropriate website. Is there something I am missing? I can provide an ad if necessary.

nobody ever said it would be easy - but I figured out the solution to my problem. I was trying to put anchor text in my link but it seems that backpage just makes whatever link you put in hot. This does make it important that your url is something the reader is likely to click instead of some shortened cloaking url.
