I'm thinking of doing the postcard method next week. AKA, selling ad space on a postcard then using the direct-mail program to send it out. Those of you who know have done it, know the program. Those who have no idea, do a search for "postcard."

Were you successful?
How did you go about it? I was planning on door-to-door, but isn't that solicitation? And most places frown severely upon that.
Any tips are appreciated. :)

Have you tried methods like this before? It's not easy or cheap. That said its just easier ways to get clients

I have not tried methods like this before. I wanted to do cold-calling, but having loud roommates, make that hard. What ways are you suggesting?

Go for it, try it.

Use everything you have in your arsenal, cold calling, cold walking, send thousands of emails, send flyers, everything you can think of.

I never tried this before but maybe it would be good. Letters to me seem better.

This can be a very lucrative business depending on your area. No, it's not a push button businesses, but it's a lot easier to get started than others. It's easy to get started with very little money.

Target businesses that are already advertising. Preach to the choir. Collect newspaper ads, throwaway marketing rags like the Penny Saver. Reach out to those marketing via ValPak. I have sold to those marketing on the back of grocery store receipts. The Yelp app is a wonderful resource. Ask for referrals! Reach out to your local chamber of commerce. It's their job to help local businesses. Your card helps local businesses!

I live in a huge apartment complex (over 600 units). I collect my junk mail. I walk around and grab discarded junk. Big bonus: Don't mail your cards when the junk mail is delivered. Your card will stand out because it's not bundled with the other junk mail. I'm always on the lookout for anyone that's doing any type of advertising.

I started late last year. I have only done three cards including one that is currently at the printer. My goal is to do 4 to 5 cards per month in different areas. I will replace my offline consulting business with this direct mail business.

It's rather expensive, think twice

''expensive'' what are you talking about?

This is a good biz to get into, granted NOT easy but hey better/easier than trying to sell: SEO - MOBILE - VIDEO ...etc,. etc...

I take it the OP has read some of the 9x12 bob ross stuff...?

Lots *FREE* all over the net:yeah:

I like this method! May be a bit costly, but without any doubts quite effective.

You are better off placing Bandit Signs on electricity poles using a tool you can find on Google or Bing.

You can buy a sign and put messages on them targeting personal loans, housing opportunities and also lawn care services.

You can make passive streams as long as you post them high enough using the tool.

The only way you can remove them if you set them up properly is if you use a fire truck with the ladder provided.

Did you look at the pricing already for mailing them using USPS etc? (if you are in the US) There are tons of magaiznes with these ads out there already and if you want to get in all mailboxes (so you can promote proper exposure) is rather costly, especially if you want to use postcards. The space is too limited and pretty high comp.

this method works and you can add your own spin on it.
