post your opinion on my strategy.

Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask your apinion on a stratigy I want to implament.

I want to create a athoritive site on insurance and beat the big guys for the really competative key words example: car insurance.

my plan is this:
Create lots of unique articles on my site(I have a large network of insurance agent across lots of companies to help me)
Get ranked as a exper in insurance in linkedin
Answer questions on insurance blogs and yahoo answers...ect
Submite insurance articles to other sites.

Anything else you guyes think I can do to compeate?
Do you think it is possable to compeate?

I think it wood be great if my 10 webpages were the top 10 for car insurance on google.

Anyone want ro veture a guess on how long it would take?

You do realize that a search for KW "insurance" on G yields 947,000,000 results right?

You might be able to rank well with long tail or geo targeted keywords related to insurance...but I am going to say that based on your strategy you have less than a snowballs chance in hell of being in all 10 spots on the first page of G for insurance.

I said on all ten spots as a kind of joke I know it will never happen.

My strategy is to be seen as a insurance expert on a lot of blogs and networking sites and eventually start getting my articles linked to from other people that I helped just becouse of my reputation.

I know this will not happen overnight and I am planning on doing this for a long time. I am hoping that after a year I will have a (1) spot for
"car insurance" and some other very competative keywords somewere in the top 10 of google.

Is it really impossable?

I greatly value your guys appinion. I am willing to put in the time only if there is some degree of hope.

The #1 listing for "insurance" is State Farm. They have 23,000 pages listed in the google with 2430 links. They also have 228,589 links listed by Yahoo.

I'd say ditch your life and go for it! Either go big or go home. There's no reason you can't be #1 by the end of the millennium.

Edit: Oh yeah, without trying to come across as a smart ass, if you really want to be viewed as an "egg-spurt," work on your grammar, punctuation and spelling.

So, why insurance? What is it about insurance that makes you WANT to compete for that KW?

Do some more reseearch and find a keyword/niche that would be MUCH easier for you to tackle. Ever hear the expression "its better to be a big fish in a small pond" ???

Come one people have a little sense of adventure.

You guys are telling me that in a year I would not be able to get 2430 relevant links indexed by Google.
Even if I am a work alcoholic and all I do for 8 hours a day (excluding weekends) is keep to my strategy?
I don't mean to keep repeating myself but I guess I never thought it was that hard.

The reason I picked insurance is that I have a lot of knowledge about it.
I have worked as an insurance agent for a while and from my experience. Once you impress people they basically come running to you. I had customers that did not leave my agency even though they moved out of my area. I even referred them to another agent closer to them but they did not leave. I guess I thought I could create the same reputation online
and from that reputation get a lot of back links

Looks like it would not be enough though hmmm.

Is there anything else I could do to increase my chances?

Man, I say fuckin go for it!

I've seen some pretty silly made for adsense sites dominating on Page 1 & 2 on Goog for terms like 'bad credit'.

Hell, there was free HOMESTEAD site that had just been built a month prior on page 1 for 'bad credit' some time ago. NO CLUE how they pulled it off.

Go for it dude, if nothing else you'll still pull in some off shot traffic for keyword terms you're not even trying to rank for.

Best use of time? Probably not, in my opinion. But you could lose some hair and have some fun trying. PRStorm and Social Bookmark the hell out of everything you publish and pray to your God.

Even if I don't rank in the Google for my key words do you think I would get lots of traffic just from me answering questions and building a reputation?

I agree with Reqd. You might not have much chance at getting #1 spot but you might be able to crack the top 10 if you are really persistent. Also you will end up ranked for lots of other keywords that will generate decent traffic.
In the end if you don't try you won't ever know for sure.

So would it be a better strategy to first try to rank for the easier to get to keywords and then move up the ladder so to speak. Will this not distract me from the competitive key words I really want?
Also how many key words should I focus on at a time?

LOL I feel like I did when I first started in the insurance industry.

Thanks for your all of you advice. I guess I have to think about it some more and come up with more strategies.
