I am wondering which will suit better for SEO purposes?

I usually go with 'pages' because i am not really creating a blog, but just the traditional 5-pages WP micro-blog for seo purposes.

However, I find that with pages, you cannot add 'tags' by default - hence, 'tag cloud' will not work.

Anyone wanna share their point of view on this? Thanks

IIRC pages also don't automatically go into your site's RSS feed, unlike posts. This is assuming that we're talking about WordPress.

Yes, we are talking about wordpress here (sorry, I should've said that on my OP)

I usually go with pages myself (as I have no need for those 'author/comment' box stuff - even tho i can easily remove them on backend - but people get lazy sometimes).

I have no problem ranking with pages, but was thinking if it will get even better if I try ranking post.

I think they both have differences in the first month (depending on how many times you post in a month) because your post would appear in the homepage until it gets moved because of recent posts while your page will not. I believe this means that the post is easier to rank as long as it is in the homepage.

Well, as mentioned above, I have no intention of updating the blog/site/post.
Its just a traditional 5-pages MNS.

Its true, most blog post automatically shows themselves on homepage. But pages can be shown as well with little modification. Perhaps, we can even show pages on sidebar (via widgets)

If that's the case then there's no big difference then.

Depends on your site structure. If you're going to write content where you know you won't expand on later on, then go with a page. But if you have a primary Keyword and you want to write a post on each LSI kw under your primary, it's best to have your primary kw as a category and then have each post underneath that category to be your LSI posts.

Don't use tag clouds on your blogs, it's hurting people's rankings more than its helping.

Going back to your question for SEO, whether its a page or post, make sure your on-page SEO is on point and have your kw density low.

I use pages. DOn't have the date 'posted by', etc.
I also often use .html on pages to give it a .html ending.

Most of the themes can easily let you remove the posted by though.

For the themes that don't have that check out the Date Exclusion SEO plugin. It works pretty well.

Yeah, I don't use tags though, so doing pages is just easier. All the same really

    Thanks for the advice guys.
I think i better stick with 'pages' then, since tags are pretty useless - according to you guys.

I don't think tags are useless maybe in your case but certain sites would benefit from them greatly.just my opinion.

Haha, I don't think I've ever seen such a clusterf*ck of answers from people that only "kinda" know the answer in my life. If it was everyone's purpose to totally confuse and misguide the OP, I think ya'll succeeded.

    ... that was kinda humorous.

I think JMamba gave a great answer! I was looking for this already and seems that nobody wanted to answer.
