Post-Penguin New link building

Spot on
Diversityy is key as we all been saying forever mate...
The real key is in diversifying your anchor text profile than anything, juust like this article says.

My secret is that I use high pagerank links with built in Penguin keyword diversity, then I use little BST services to blend in additional anchor text diversity. I've noticed that you dont need a ton of anchor text links like you used to to rank well for your keywords, you just need good high pagerank links.

[...] It's funny that everyone saying it's old stuff. It is NOT old stuff. Before Panda/Penguin, exact match anchor text was the way to go. Now its the other way around. [...]

One of the many blights on BHW. Your post cannot possibly be less true.

In reality, your post perfectly illustrates why people should pay continuous, close attention to so-called 'white-hat' forums and information.

Anchor text diversity has been recognized as effective by so-called 'white hats' for roughly 5 years. As a natural consequence, very few (relatively speaking) "white hat" sites have suffered.

Look, guys: you can't find all the answers here. If you think that you can, then you are one amongst literally billions of morons.

Synonyms with varied anchor text and branding keywords IE your domain or official site name.

Authority is what you want from your backlinks. Say your site is "loseweightfastnow.com" your anchor text should reflect that your site is much more than some thin affiliate property. Your anchor text should be "eating healthy" "how to stay trim" "summer workout routine" as well as of course "lose weight fast now" "loseweightfastnow.com" you dig? The content on your site should reflect this also, with articles relating to your overall topic, not just the one you are trying to sell. That's how you gain trust and authority. Google's entire operation is based upon analyzing backlinks. Give them what they want. Point your links at internal pages, and the home page. Backling everything with those anchors. And yes you have to use exact match keyword anchors if you want your site to rank for that term, just be sure you also follow the other practices I have outlined, and your site will rank safely and effectively. Just don't use shit spammed out links to do it!

That's an excellent article in my opinion. The pie charts really hammer home the point of diversification. Yes, many people have been doing this for some time. I've been testing out a 90/10 split for diversification and so far its giving me some good results, resulting in some of my pages ranking on page 1.

#1 IMO is branding right now. Google is ranking their interpretation of "brands" at the top for all niches I watch.

I certainly think this is both correct, and incorrect.
I think the 80% number is absolutely, completely, and totally bogus though.

I still see the vast majority of ranking sites in EXTREMELY competitive niches (5millionUSD/month terms) being highly XXX keyword, keyword XXX, XXX keyword XXX, keyword XXX XXX

In fact, that appears to make up >60% of their links (which makes sense)
At any rate, anchor text sculpting is critical. You should always have the largest single section of the pie being "keyword" (ignoring the section with "other anchors")

My research goes against this- high Pagerank has nothing to do with rank re links. I see good authority/trusted pr1-3 doing wonders right now :)

Ok guys, I understand the problem of diversity but in what frequency you have to make linkbuilding? I guess that's more important than the diversity of your anchor. What is your experience?

EP, when you are doing link profile analysis have you noticed a higher correlation between rankings and anchor text distribution based on referring pages for each anchor, or based on referring domains for each anchor? Based on what I've seen, the penalties are based on referring pages for EMA phrases but you analyze a much larger set of data so I was wondering if you see the same.

Most of us make the mistake of overlooking the true idea of a natural linkbuilding campaign. I get why too, we pay money for links so we want to make sure that we are getting as much value as possible.

However - we need to be thinking about the idea of how we make these linkbuilding campaigns as natural as possible. That starts by thinking about how a blogger or article writer would naturally link to your website. Obviously they wouldn't use the exact anchor text match, right? So when building your campaigns think about that and be sure to institute it into your linkbuilding strategy. Use natural anchor texts, like your URL, your name, click here, branding names, and that type of thing.

Use this in all of your linkbuilding campaigns too, not just a quick Fiverr gig to help "blend" things.

hmm main thread is same as past but posts from ALchemy is really helpful....thanks
