Post link on forum help ranking?

Recently I managed to post my website link in one of a forum in my country

but the niche is different , the Website actually is more on IT stuffs but the forum got many sections beside discuesion on IT also others

I heard from some memebers here before mention post link in forums also help a bit for your website

so I wonder is true?

I does happen to check the website in my local country is within top 20

kinda should be more like create some backlink juicy if I right by doing this?

If the forum has good authority, it will help you to generate traffic. But when you are looking for ranking, you need to look for other opportunities, like getting a backlink on a niche relevant site which has good authority and some traffic.

It may pass some link juice if it is a do-follow link which will be good for SEO. Moreover, it can bring traffic if the link is related to the post.

It helps in ranking and I can show you a site ranked #1 with 60% forum links from niche relevant forums for very high competitive keywords. But this not means signature links - they are bad idea.

It is one of the easiest way to get backlink from target country and target niche - if your niche is selling dresses in UK, than some fashion related UK forum will work for SEO.

Few tips:
- force indexing, through backlinks boosting the forum post - this will most possibly devalue the links and also the moderators of the forum may delete it. The best is to wait the post to be indexed and crawled natural, but this may take months or years
- posting on old already indexed relevant thread works best, but hard for approving from really authority forum
- posts that loks like answers with link to inner domain page have higher approval rate - more relevant the linked page is - better

Depends which forums I guess.
I'm sure Google ignores spammed and abandoned forums, but they must to give weight to top forums in the industry.
Forums are just the most natural links you can get, they are relevant and Google trust them as they know those forums are highly moderated so they are not spammed with links.
