I’ve been testing different strategies to grow a TikTok account organically this year and I’m curious what’s working best for others right now. Videos seem to bring a lot of reach, but engagement on some posts sometimes feels inconsistent. For those running niche accounts, what type of content has been performing best lately — short videos, slideshows, or text-based posts? Would love to hear some real experiences from people actively growing accounts.

Right now it’s all about retention, short videos still work best especially if they hook fast.

Imo, slideshows can do well too if the topic is strong, but text posts are hit or miss.
 
Short videos still win for reach, slideshows work sometimes but less consistent. I seen best results with simple hooks in first seconds or it just dies fast
 
I think short videos still achieve the best reach, but slideshows (photos) are gaining popularity and generating better engagement, so it's best to combine both to drive views and maintain interaction.

Short videos still bring most of the reach, but if the hook is weak, nothing will work really. Look what other creator are doing and try to do it in a similar style, then see what works.
 
This year short form vertical videos 60-90 sec are the overall reach king but slideshows are current yielding much higher rates and community engagement for niche specific educational tips

Slideshows can still work too, especially for story-style posts or lists, but they need a strong first slide. Text-based posts are hit or miss, but they can perform well if the topic is relatable or controversial enough to make people comment.
 
I've had the best results with short videos that get straight to the point. The first few seconds matter a lot, and consistency seems to be more important than the content format itself.
 
Short form videos with strong hooks and high watch time still perform best, while consistency and niche focused storytelling matter more than format alone for stable growth.
 
In my opinion, choosing the right video topic is extremely important. TikTok is a trend-driven platform, so creating content around popular and emerging trends can provide significant opportunities for rapid growth.
 
it's about the hook in the first 3 seconds, people will swipe past videos if they take too long to get to the point. Consider starting a video with a cut from an interesting part of the video so people stick around to find out what happens
