So I've finally hit 3000 posts and reps!
I have been purposefully trying to avoid getting my post count up because I did not know what to write, but I'll just post it. It is what it is.
First of all I'd like to take a minute and say thanks to my good friends and business partners from this forum. I don't want to mention names and leave out a few people by mistake. You know who you all are J 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] of all I'd like to thank DD and the MODs for making this the number 1 online university and money making community in the universe. If you are here to make friends and make money (how much you make depends on how much you dedicate your life to your goals), then you have come to the right place. Thanks to everyone that contributes to making this places the way it is (and thanks for all of the rep. and thanks I've gotten from ya'll - glad I have been useful
).
Special thanks to Big Buddy and Wiz - They really make this place so refreshing and amiable (friendly) - even with their high status on the board they still take time to greet new comers and help them out by answering their "noobish" questions. I'd like to welcome to the new MODs Jasmin and I know SEO. And give a farewell to our friend Pofecker. R.I.P . You were taken too soon - May your soul rest in Peace and our condolences goes out to your family- God works in mysterious ways.
I could make this post REAAAAALY long, but I don't want to do that, so I'll try to give you the juicy stuff.
The most important things I learned. 1) Don't ever take short cuts (i.e dropshipping instead of importing and getting your paypal account banned or scamming people to make a quick $).
2) Your reputation is EVERYTHING! Even in life, your reputation speaks for you before you say a single word! So make sure it's saying positive things about you!
3) There are NO shortcuts in business. It's a process; it takes time to learn the ropes. No body got rich over night, they put in thousands of hours coding late at night, reading, testing out systems, failing before they made it BIG OVER NIGHT... but the media never talks about that part. Don't be jealous of people make it after 2-6 months of being in the Game - those people are a rare breed. Not sure how they do it, maybe they just "get it" quicker than the rest of us. But there are some that are fakers.... be watchful of those, but learn from the genuine ones.
4) Build a business or even better, a brand. Don't work on methods. This is a MAJOR 1. Most of us go around chasing methods (i.e looking for the new method that will make us $100k in 1 month) that might work for a few weeks or months before leaving you in the same place you were when you started. You really have to stop chasing that dream! Instead learn the process of what makes a real business thrive and build your business and brand up!
5) Build systems - Does McDonalds make the best burgers? Nope, but they have perfected their system to the point where all McDonalds are run by teenagers and young 20 something. They have a system in place for dealing with customer, a system in place for cooking the food, cleaning the place, dealing with complaints..etc. etc. That's what you want to do in your business.
6) Read and understand The Millionaire Fastlane (by M.J Demarco) - It's like 4 hour work week 2.0. The main thing to take from the book are the 5 rules; (1 always build a business around a NEED and not around what you like. (2 make sure you can SCALE up the business when you have perfected the systems -i.e It's really hard to scale up an offline shop, but not hard to scale up an online ecommerce that can get traffic from all over the world. (3 Make sure the business can eventually be run without taking all of your TIME, i.e would you rather make $300k a year and have to work 16 hours every day, or have a business that makes you $100k and you only work 1 or 2 hours per day. I'd much rather have the $100k and 2 hour work day. 4) Make sure you are in CONTROL of your business. Meanings don't be an affiliate selling other people's products - what if they ban you or decide to stop selling the product. Same thing goes for being an adsense publisher - GOOGLE is in control, not you! Create your own products and have others be your affiliates
. 5) The last thing you must fully understand when building your business according to M.J's Millionaire Fast lane Laws is BARRIER TO ENTRY. You don't want to get into a business where anyone with a paypal account can become your competition over night! i.e If your whole business model is about selling 1 hot product on ebay, then it won't be very long before someone comes along and starts competing with you! You would be better off starting a business where your competition will need $2000+ start up capital and 3 months of research before they could start to trade in your niche. Because the higher the barrier the fewer people that will be able to come in and compete with you!
7) Network with people! Help people, get to know people, help those you can. Because one day when you need help people will gladly lend you hand
And you never know, the next person you chat with could just be the person you needed to make that business idea turn into an actual business!
8) NEVER - EVER - EVER - EVER stop learning, always keep learning, reading, improving, experimenting, trying out new things. Never keep your eye of the ball. I am a really creative guy (I've been told many times).... why am I this? Because I read so much. When you read allot you get different perspectives and see things from different angles that others sometimes never even consider is possible! They say it takes 10k hours (years) to become an expert in an area, be prepared to put in that time to make it in IM or your business and NEVER give up. If not, give up now.... go watch TV and just settle.
9) Give thanks, stay fit and healthy. Life is short; you never know when it's your time to go. Take care of your mind, body and soul. Tell those people you care about that you love them or better yet SHOW THEM! Give thanks to those people that help you along the way (especially your family and friends). Again, life is short - choose how you want to live it - it will catch up with you; having money does not matter when you are having a heart attack because of your bad habits.
10) Never give up. Be the captain of your ship, the master of your destiny! Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do. IF YOU REALLY WANT IT. GO AND GET IT! I'm sure there are other things I have picked up and placed somewhere in the back of my brain, but that will do for now folk. Enjoy the ride and congrats to you guys that have already reached your goal - Keep Striving!
