Possibly being scammed, help

Hey,

I have been making a number of sales for this guy who runs his own affiliate program. According to his website and the emails I have been receiving whenever I make a sale, my commission is $30 for every $39 sale, so roughly 75% which is fairly normal in the affiliate world from what I have understood.

Now I've racked up $360 in commissions and told him to send me my money via Paypal, and he sent me like $93.6 which is 30%. And now he's acting all as if the comission is 30%.

He may be making a mistake, so I sent him an email about it, I will see what he replies. The money is not that much, so it's not a huge deal to me but I don't like being ripped off.

He is located in Canada, is there anywhere I can report him for fraud? I do have his name and some personal details.

Don't you have any proof to show him that the agreed comission was 30$?
 
That's not even 30%, it's actually only 20%. If you were expecting $30 per sale and thought you had 360 made then I'm assuming you had 12 sales @ $30 a piece = $360. So 12 x $39 = $468 and if you divide that by 5 you'll get $93.60 exactly. I'd go back and look at what you agreed to as DarkPixel mentioned. That's not even remotely close. I was thinking well maybe you thought he meant $30 and he meant 30%, but he's not even giving you that much. That's rough. Good luck though, I hope you can get something worked out.

No, but I assumed what is said on the website is correct. Here is an example of what's in a confirmation email.

Payment REF: ****
Total: 39.00
Product ordered: ***********
Your commission: 30

And on the website it says I have $360 in commissions.

Well he said that's for 8 sales that he has processed and hasn't had anyone wanting a refund, so 8*11.7=93.6, in total I've made 12 sales. But yeah I am glad I found out this early and I haven't really put any of my own money into ad campaigns or anything like that, so it could have been worse. Glad I found out this early about this scammer. But I am giving him a chance to make things right, however if he does not I am going to report him and maybe take some other measures to rectify the situation.

Alright he has paid me the full $30 for 8 orders now, so that's $240. He says he will pay me the rest in 30 days. I sent him a strongly worded message. He is also closing down the affiliate program now, haha. Op success!

LOL. Sounds great! Glad that you reminded him at the right time and good to see he finally paid off.
Sending a proper email and letting the person know what you would do next generally does the trick.
 
In situations like these - which are incredibly common, it's always best to maintain an air of professionalism. Especially in the early stages. that is not to say you let someone get away with this, just play it cool...and stern.

I think that was the route you took away. Smart.
 
You can also subtly drop it to him that you are talking to his competitors and looking to get into their affiliate program. But since he already agreed to pay you, it's all done. But i have a feeling you are going to be chasing that last $120, mate. Only reason not to pay you what's owed right now, is he doesn't have enough money to pay out. 75%, lol wow, yeah, he got in way over his head. I know it's normal on Clickbank for info products, but when you start selling physical goods, etc, you'll be lucky to get 10-20%.

You cant make a shitlist thread unless the business was conducted through BHW. He hasn't even mentioned the other person is even a member here.
 
I think the Canadian federal police (RCMP) have a cyber squad for this sort of thing ... you should be able to contact them directly or through a Canadian consulate in your own country to make a start before everything vaporizes
 
I've never heard that anyone is giving 75% of per sale for affiliate marketing !!! He gave u enough for your work i think....Dont make it a big issue like a kid !!! LOL

i mean 2 Parties agreed on 75% and then you get 20% and upon reasoning you get 50% and you are promised to be paid rest of 25% next month this is no way of doing business

I've seen plenty of 75% commissions around.
If I made a product and opened an affiliate program I'd have no problem giving it either. If it's a good enough product you can sit back, relax and watch others earn your money for you.
