I'm new to black hat seo techniques, but I'm wondering if it is possible to rank high for a phrase even if it's not mentioned on the site. I'm trying to rank high on a site I don't sell anything on. It's more for bragging rights, I suppose. Is it possible to have tons of blog posts, comments, and videos linking to the site with anchor text and have it rank high?

I've checked the phrase in traffic travis and it seems relatively easy. I may be even looking to hire someone to help out with this, so if anyone has suggestions of what I would need to do, I'll look for someone who provides though services.

    I appreciate any help.

    Thanks

So are you asking if it's possible to rank a domain without content high on google?

If so i doubt it..... Google loves content!

The site is a personal site with original content that I'm looking to have show up when people search for a phrase relating to the biggest fan of a specific television show. Like I said, it's mainly for bragging rights, but would it help to write a couple of blog entries that have that phrase worked into them?

Yes it is possible. On Page factors are only a part of how Google ranks pages. You would help yourself tremendously by optimizing the page. But it can still rank for a keyword without on-page SEO.

Thank you nutznmoney, I'm looking at the current top twenty results and none of them even have this phrase anywhere on them. One is sort of close, but I'm not sure how they are ranking high for this.

Ideally I would like to rank high without blasting the site with the phrase to make it look like I went out of my way to rank 1 for it, but is there anything I can do that will not be obvious to viewers, but will help?

    Thanks again.

The most effective thing you can do is get a few quality links from high PR sites and build a two or three tier link pyramid where the link juice funnels down to your money site. It would also help if you bought an aged domain and did a 301 redirect to the page you are trying to rank. Then you can link to it all you want.

Adobe Reader ranks #1 for "click here" even though the page doesn't have that anywhere on it. It got there because there are a billion links saying "click here" that point to that page.

It's also why a few years ago you could type "miserable failure" into google and get a page about George Bush...some people wanted to pull a prank and made a bunch of backlinks with that anchor text pointed at the site.

Of course it works better if it's not competitive at all. Nobody else was trying to rank "miserable failure".

if you're optimizing for a specific keyword that has low competition but lots of results, then you need to embed the anchor text into your site as much as you can. And more specifically, specific keywords in your backlinks, not just random backlinking on blogs.

I've only started a few weeks ago, so I may be wrong in some sense. But I feel I comprehensively understand the seo game now.

Just go to some of the paid advertisers and pay them 100 bucks to toss up a bunch of links for you. Well worth it if your sites important to you and can easily achieve #1

Possible yes - but not easy.
