Possible to get caught?

Guys I don’t know if this is the right place to ask but please help me with this confusion!
If someone created something on Microsoft excel sheet or also something on Microsoft word or also some pdf files and if I have that link and if I open it will that creator know that I accessed that files and opened it? Will they know my Microsoft account?

So all these people getting access to the courses from here or anywhere without buying will they get caught?

Depends what you download from where. There's no exact answer to this question. Executable code can be inserted in Word/Excel/PDFs. If that code gets executed the owner of the file, will know that someone accessed it.

Will they still know if I am not logged in to my Microsoft account and I accessed the file only to see it didn’t copy or do anything
