In wordpress it is possible to schedule a post in the past. For example I can write a post now and schedule it on 08/08/2013. Google actually shows that date in the SERPs later even if the post was crawled and indexed last week.

As we all know age of an article / link plays a huge role. So by scheduling posts in the past we can 'fake' the age of an article.

Does this help to make a post / link older for google? Or do they use the date when it was first crawled when they consider the age of an article?

Depends upon your subject matter but I think they would give prefer to aged backlinks instead of aged posts.
 
Probably wouldn't provide too much benefit for Google, but I could see it being used to trick your actual users to think your bew website is older than it is
 
So what happens to articles that don't have a date shown up anywhere? It can't possibly work with algo, it could only fool a human.

I don't think so that google loves old content. When ever I search something, either it was posted a few hours ago or a few weeks ago. I rearly see any post that is from 2013 on #1.
So no fun to do that!
 
This will just hurt you. You could have an older date show up in the search results, but that's going to harm your CTR. If I see an older article vs a newer one, I click the newer one.

For ranking, no, that won't help. Indirectly, your CTR falling would actually hurt your rank anyway, so I suppose indirectly your rank drops.
 
I would rather update all post dates frequently. You will get better CTR from search results when you have up-to-date posts showing on google search.

OP , i thought about this originally, felt like some out of box method to fake high publishing rate of articles and then i didn't gave it a go.
My intention was spamming and i couldn't find a way to automate article posting so i left that.
 
LOL... love this thread already with people saying google loves new stuff... go back to DP and post that nonsense there.
 
Google gives age to the link from the first time it index it.

Not the date of the article.
