I need a particular Twitter account which is in use already. It has one post from 2011 and has not been touched since that time.

Anyone know if it's possible to obtain the account through some means? Either by contacting Twitter and/or the owner? I doubt I could get a hold of the owner, but obviously they are not using the account.

Would it be possible to strong-arm if I owned the trademark?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

you could try twitter support, though I don't think they'll agree to do that no matter what

Unless you can get a hold of the owner there is no way.


Why would Twitter just randomly give you an account? .. Hey Twitter give me Trump's account!

If the account is inactive and you need the accounts "@username", you can request Twitter to remove it for not being active; this way you can stay with the @username

If you have a trademark, YES. Twitter will allow a non-active account to be handed over. If you don't have a trademark you are out of luck.

Contact support. They might have some sort of time-span policy for those inactive accts. In my experience, I just came back 2 yrs later and the acct name was available

That's super specific, I'm not sure how you'd pull that off without DMing someone who matched the criteria you have and offering them money for it.. sorry I can't help more..
