How drastic is the change from taking position 1 for a kw from position 2?

I'm ranking 2nd for a kw and its bringing in about 50 visitors a day with a 12000 searches a month KW. Its making money but now as much as i would have liked.

What are your experiences when jumping up from position 2 to 1?

People click the 1st position Links more than any other SERP links. So, you will get lot more traffic for sure if you can move the site from position 2 to 1 for the keywords. That's how it worked for me.

So its pretty much double the traffic?! Definitely deserves a go then. What about in terms of monetary value, have you guys found that you've only seen a big ROI once you've hit the first spot?
 
Yup all traffic is divided amongst top visible ranks in a browser. Everyone visits the first rank (human behaviour). So do not hold back. Go for it.
 
Yeah mate. The traffic is definitely going to increase even more. But for ROI and profit i think they depend on the niche itself. For mine, it's almost 4 times more when I hit the first spot. Go for that #1!
 
After Google got greedy as fuck and shoved all the ads to the top (which also forces the prices up on keywords), put shopping images there, and ridiculous answer boxes, #1 doesn't hold all the glory as it once used to. It is still the best spot to be in, but I doubt all those studies are still relevant considering all the changes over the past 2 years. Making money off organics is a lot harder.
 
If you would manage to get position 1 you would get tons of more visitors per 24 hours for sure.

Diffrence between 1st and 2nd position is actually huge :-)

Wow, didn't think it was so drastic.

I'm thinking it might be worth using google ads along with having my page ranking position 1, this should grab the attention of visitors. What do you guys think of this strategy?
