Porn and Mainstream on same IP but different domains, is this a problem when it comes to SEO?

Thanks in advance guys! :)

Just from past experience, yes your mainstream sites will be affected.

Interested in this also.... i've read mixed reports in the past. I like to believe it has little effect, however many would argue.

thanks for the answers so far, anyone else with experience regarding this issue?

No they won't.

OP search engines know that there are shared hostings and they recognize sites by domains, not IP's, until of course you don't link them with each other

No huge problem if not interlinked.
if you interlink. your mainstream sites will be wet in cum..google bot dont like cum.

imo its better if you keep your porn site on another Ip.

This. Just don't interlink them and you'll be fine.

I read a good case study before... hosting a quality site where the ip is shared by many low quality sites, and these sites are getting auto-penalties and manual reviews anyways, and then their quality site got knocked down, while a similar site they set up on a dedi ip address went fine... so to G they're just saying "well this all looks like a shitty bunch of sites on this ip address, might be easier to penalize all of them, even if some that don't deserve it get hit, it's worth it"

On shared hosting, a lot offer you your own ded IP address for $2 more per month. I think doing that is worth it. You might be on a server with these sites, but a separate IP puts some distance between you and shitty sites.

Excellent post by deviatus. I do agree with his points and believe that your mainstream site will be affected (not always but there is a chance and I wouldn't want to risk it).

lier

I have about 100 or so adult and 10 or so mainstraim on the same host and one IP. My mainstream are ranking OK for some good KWs with zero problems.

Sorry, but that's total BS. Search engines don't penalize sites if someone on the same IP is hosting porn or viagra. 80% of people use shared hosting for their sites, if Google was determining quality of sites by IP, half of the sites would have been deindexed. Lots of porn is on my shared hosting, but all my sites rank great. As long as you don't interlink them, you'll be fine. Plus, trust me, Big G knows if it's your site or someone else's ;)

Dedicated IP's are not offered for SEO needs. They offer it for example if you want SSL. Each day there are less and less available IPv4 addresses.
