Hey guys,

Just wanted to hear you thoughts on this. Let's say you want to purchase a product worth $50 and the seller is offering 10% discount for all orders paid through crypto. Currently you're not holding any crypto so you'll have to go through the stress of buying some BTC in order to claim that discount. On the other hand, you can also make an instant payment of $50 + $2 tax if you choose to pay though you bank card or paypal.

So, how would you pay?

I would appreciate if you also participate in this poll :)

bump...

You need to understand the nature of the transaction. If I am 100% sure that you are not going to scam me and i want to save money I will surely opt for crypto.

Paypal has buyer protection, crypto has not.

On the other half if i am trying to buy something which i want to hide my transactions i will opt for crypto. crypto is kinda anonymous Paypal is not.

No. your going to lose in the transaction of buying crypto, you don't have satefty/security, probably wont be able to claim as an expense blah blah.

People will pay with crypto only if they trust the seller and had purchased from him in the past. Otherwise , you need to be selling something really unique not available at most places.

If I trust the seller I will pay using crypto. but trust is hard to come by specially online. I have already suffered once paying for service using BTC.

You want my business you take my card or paypal payment - simple.

Interesting. Let's modify the scenario. You trust the seller and you're sure that he won't scam you. How about now

In the scenario you described, it's PayPal for sure. If you don't hold any crypto and you still decide to go with it, there are fees when buying, you lose money in the process. It can be around 5% when buying with credit card, if you offer 5% discount, that's gone with the fiat->BTC conversion. If you offer 10% discount, some discount is left, but it might not be enough to make crypto virgins pay with crypto.

I don't use crypto, so no. The same as my previous answer.

If I had to pay with Crypto (I have none) I wouldn't bother getting any. Lots of sellers in the world. I dont need to do the work to try and buy something.

My goal with crypto is only to grow its value for now, not spend. So i'd rather just use conventional methods of paying (for now)

By the time I successfully purchase the crypto it might happen that I need to make additional purchase to adjust for the eventual ~40% drop in its value... wont even mention the time lost, the fees incurred, the desperate search for the advertised price among different exchanges...oh well

voted crypto first before reading the topic, since i already have a wallet with bitcoin inside, cryptocurrency is always my first choice for privacy, but after reading the situation, if i don't have any, and i have to create a wallet and buy btc in order to pay and get a 10% discount i will be already spending way more than the 10% plus the high risk of losing coin value, so for your situation, credit card of course is the best choice.

Thank you for the answers guys. :)
