Hello there,

I am a new member in this forum, but not a total newbie in SEO :)

I wanted to ask BHW community - from your experience, does using HTTPs versus HTTP has any advantages in SEO? Like bigger crawling budget or better positions in SERPs. Maybe you have a case where switching from HTTP to HTTPs helped in those metrics?

Google https://www.seroundtable.com/google-ssl-https-ranking-signal-18966.html that it should have small positive impact, but what is your experience?
It would be great, if you would share your thoughts here :)

I am constantly launching some "dummy" / test websites to see what works and what doesn't.
And I did not spotted any better rankings in HTTPs websites. Actually, I have noticed that HTTPs sites has slightly lower crawling budget than HTTP ones. Maybe because they are slightly slower by nature?

Share your thoughts, thank you :)

It's been stated the Google will look more kindly upon https rather than http. I would always move to https with proper redirection in place to avoid issues. Plus, I think people are more trusting off https.

Thanks for the reply :) I totally agree that HTTPs has more advantages than HTTP in general, but my question is: how important is to use HTTPs only from narrow SEO point of view - does it give any advantages comparing to HTTP.

I dont think anyone can truly answer that as that would mean understanding ranking algorythyms from SEO and https v http. In short. YES. It's very important as SEO includes sites being secure.

It's not simple to answer this clearly because there is no way that google will confirm some methods will have clear impact on their ranks but because they are promoting SSL it's ok to have it, so answer it's small i think.

There is no impact at all in SERP and Crawling but SSL certificate shows it's a secured site this is the only difference.
