[poll] How do you back up your websites?

Another poll

Just wondering if and how everyone backs up their websites. I know there are a lot of different setups - from standard cpanel hosting to vps/dedicated servers with access to WHM and then if you have PBNs to manage it gets even more complicated.

At the moment I am split between the following:

1.Some of my hosting providers offer automatic backups (some stored locally and some stored off site).
2.For accounts where I have access to WHM I have automated backups that are stored offsite using brickftp.com (Secure FTP storage).
3.I then back up all of my accounts manually every 3 months and store then offsite as well - just for failsafe.

I am a bit anal about it because I have lost sites in the past when hosts have disappeared or sites have been compromised etc.

Interested to see what everyone else does.

Also maybe everyone has it covered already but if not I was thinking about doing a guide or guides on different ways of backing up.

hmmm, ive been doing things manually and saving them locally, but now that you show me brickftp i feel like i've been missing out

It's pretty cool but it's quite expensive.
I was thinking to do a tutorial on renting a small Linux vps, setting up FTP server, locking down so it's only accessible by your web server and then configuring whm to back up to it and maybe a plugin or shell script option for hosts where you don't have whm access.

Some websites are worth a lot and after experiencing what a hack can do back in the old days I hard copy back up my sites
with an external drive and then typically the hosting companies I use have great backup measures. So in a click and 5 minutes
I am back. Basically if its on a hard copy then you can survive any blow.

Well here is a story :

7 years ago I had a website where I shared funny pictures and videos (something like 9gag). I had some banners with a network called fininfo (very old one many won't remember it , but it was a very good PPV) Anyway, the website was making around 10$ daily . After a while I've started noticing some strange folders after accessing the FTP. I didn't knew back then that my website was already hacked. Few weeks after I woke up to see that all files were deleted :s. The funny part is that I didn't even make a backup for the website.

Nowadays a backup is done EVERY DAMN DAY !!!

I do it directly from Cpanel or get a customer support rep to do it if I'm to lazy.

I create several full backups after each major change to any of my websites or my client sites. I store these copies in the following locations:

Locally.
On their servers.
On a USB drive (when I travel).
On my laptop (also for when I travel).

I also keep specific recent backup files on my phone (again, for when I travel) just in case something happens to one of their websites and their most recent backup doesn't have those files (e.g., images and videos).

You'd be surprised at the amount of people I have seen take pictures of their monitor when trading game items on a forum.
