Hello there,

I am a new member in this forum, but not a total newbie in SEO :)

I wanted to ask BHW community - how do you think does Cloudflare hides hosting IP from Google?
In theory (as I understand), if configured correctly, Cloudflare should hide all A type DNS records from public. But maybe they have a special agreement with Google? What do you think?

As I know, once you've configured your website with Cloudflare's nameservers, your website will appear under their IP's, not under your hosting IP ( and we talk about thousands of websites ). We can only speculate if they have an agreement with G or not. Personally, I don't think so.
 
cloudflare doesn't hide the IP

if you go to any website that can let you see the ip of website, it doesn't matter you use cloudflare or not. It will show you the ip anyway

Thanks for the reply, but can you support your statement?
Because once you point website to Cloudflare, the only IP ordinary people will see will be Cloudflare's IP (unless you create MX entries).

Those other tools may show only "historical" IPs for particular website.

Or maybe I am wrong, please tell me how do you imagine everything. Thanks :)

Yup that's what I know too. According to what I have read online, they are pretty passionate about this and they will never take their hosts offline/share data with anyone unless someone is doing something very nasty like child pornography or something similar.

You are right..cloud flare does change the IP. But if a user really wants to know the real IP he can..

Here is an example = domain ctrfam.org is using cloudflare

and when check A records from WhatsMyDns, it gives us following ips
104.27.184.175
104.27.185.175

but here is the trick, add "cpanel" in front of a domain and then check the A records again and viola you have the real ip i.e. 75.119.145.181 :anyway:

Yeah, but it is probably because Cloudflare of this domain is configured that way: cpanel subdomain is not configured to be passed through Cloudflare network, while main site is. But thanks for insights ;)
 
I'd say if law enforcement have a tough time then Google probably do too

its basically a reverse proxy so NO

Wrong. It shows you cloudflares


Edit: even that cpanel thing isn't valid because you can make cloudflare run site-wide
