I've read bad things about the security of CP & aaP. Are they vulnerable or I shouldn't be too worried?

I would say stay away from free panels, they have lot of vulnerability and are not good enough to avoid paying 5-10 bucks.
Ihad used CyberPanel and webmin, they are okay but not the best.
You can get DirectAdmin for like $2 per month for personal usage, but it's worth it. There are few provider's who offer DA free with VPS, can consider that as well if you need standard license.

Speaking professionally, CyberPanel is the most excellent choice, provided you have a Linux background. I say this because CyberPanel has forums for general support and you have to purchase a support plan if you a person who wants your questions answered within your time frame. The only real issue I have ever had with cyber panel is changing the default Certificate Authority from Lets Encrypt to ZERO SSL. It is not as simple as running acme.sh and making the change...
On another note, cyberpanel is lightweight and fast! Includes the open-source webserver OpenLiteSpeed, which is good if you are not hosting websites. You can upgrade the webserver to LiteSpeed Enterprise at a price. The homepage of cyberpanel is simple and easy to understand, see pic below.

I am thinking of using Cyberpanel as well. But I have the following questions:
- Does it have a File manager like DirectAdmin and cPanel do?
- Have you ever tried to set up a cron job in Cyberpanel?
- Can you easily access Public_html and upload files in there (root directory)?
- Does it organize your WordPress content, themes, and plugin so that you could edit the codes?

My experience:
- Cyberpanel is easy to setup and use, but vps with CP is slow like a shared webhosting (my $5 interserver webhosting have much faster speed)
- Hestia panel easy to use and lightweight, I love it- but apache is here the speed bottleneck, I do not know how use it without apache (ony nginx) ?
- C panel easy to use but it's not cheap and it eats a lot of your server ressource, the same with Plesk.
- WordOps very slim lightweight panel, not eats a lot of server ressources, but I not get my panel login (hostname) work with ssl, having set ssh command to reate hostname with let's encrypt ssl- but it not works. Maybe some people say it not works on ubuntu 22.04 better using Debian 11 with this panel ?
My biggest problem in the moment is get ssh connection with keys without set passphrase or password.
It not works, no luck, my mac terminal and ,mac Trmius tool always ask for a password, this makes a vps service useless, I can not login via ssh.
Must try to find a vps provider where I can use root username+ password without using keys.

You didn't include Centos Web Panel but nevermind because it sucks.
Cyber Panel is now a personal favorite of mine. Since starting to use it i'm more than happy about speed, stability and performance of my websites. Clients are happy too, no more phone calls "my site is slowwwwww".

Hey, I would say CyberPanel, but I would spend 5-10€ for a better hosting, but if you want a free one CyberPanel would be the best option, my experience.
