Lately I have seen a few replies in several subforums that are clearly generated with an ai writing tool like chatGPT. Such responses are often either unhelpful, misleading, not related to the context of the thread or just outright incorrect. I believe members who post such replies are either too lazy to write their own replies, or are acting in bad faith to inflate their post count.

What policy do we have for such circumstances? Can I report such unhelpful content that looks like it has been generated by an ai tool? Are members not allowed to post ai-generated replies at all, even if they are helpful?

Having an official policy that answers such questions clearly stated in a thread might be helpful.

Until the day that GPT can report these to BHW, fire away on the report trigger I say. What I want and everyone else wants is the real perspective of real people doing what they do in reality.

Go use chat gpt replies on other forums for every other niche, its perfect, its what I plan to do once I have more time. But this is our respectable home, and you don't want to crap on your own doorstep with just ai content when you're doorstep is paved with the experiences of real gold.

Sometimes its fun for someone to write a thread on it, or a post and say here's what chat gpt says. But lets keep that to a minimum. Rather than ask chatgpt for an answer to post on bhw, go do some real work on a project for a change, and come back and talk about your experiences. Thats the best use of your time, and more people will respect you for that.

It depends on the specific circumstances and the platform or community you are referring to. Each platform or community may have their own policies regarding the use of AI-generated content. If you come across unhelpful or potentially harmful content that you suspect was generated by an AI tool, it is best to report it to the appropriate moderation team for review. They will be able to determine whether the content violates their policies and take appropriate action. As for helpful AI generated content, it depends on the platform's policy, but generally it's allowed.

:D :D :D

Yeah the same dear sirs have evolved to using ChatGPT responses instead of posting broken English nonsense to inflate their posts. Lucky for us, it's not hard to detect them. Look for vague, repetitive, similar structured paragraphs with outdated/incorrect assumptions/claims.

Why, is it against the rules?
Well, it could be interpreted as being against this rule:
3.2 Activity that involves the use of viruses, bots, worms, or any other computer code, files or programs that interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware, or otherwise permit the unauthorized use of or access to a computer or a computer network.
Depending on whether the admins/mods see chatGPT as a bot. But as there is no current ruling, I still think reporting is the way to go, and the mods can use their discretion.

Why, is it against the rules?
This was why I opened this thread; to seek clarity and have discourse on what the future rules regarding this stuff should be. From what I can find, I do not think we have a rule that bans unhelpful or "incorrect" answers.

Having a content policy for ai generated content similar to that of what Stack Exchange made recently would be helpful.

I understand that this is a seo forum and not a programming forum to have such strict policy against ai-generated content but imo, that is the only way to tackle the gpt spam this forum might get flooded with in the future.

Wish people would put as much effort into their comments as I do rather than auto generate their replies xD

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/can-we-use-ai-tools-to-reply-in-bhw.1331929/page-2#post-14386437, is already a guideline to be followed on the forum. And, if observed, then it does get https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/can-we-use-ai-tools-to-reply-in-bhw.1331929/#post-14386359.
