Gripen is ok, but not 5th gen. If you are going to F-16 like we before, F-35 is natural. Otherwise it would be the logistic nightmare. Most of weapon from F-16 is compatible with F-35.Seems nice, Thailand just decided to buy our Swedish Saab Gripen .. Smart choice.
Gripens are nice, cheap and closer to us, but there is not guarantee Saab will work on 5th gen.

There have been many comparisons between the 35 and Gripen in the Nato drills and yes, Gripen E is a 4.5 instead of a 5 modell with stealth that is comparable. Our own goverment has ordered some Gripen E I know so far, I´m not an expert but I follow the comparisons out there.

You are from Sweden? It's good, if you are producent. You can easy order 200 of them or more. Your factories will just do it. With F-35 we bought only 32 and still there is big queue and countries just waiting to produce it.
But I guess if we want to order more Gripens, it would be the same. Factories have bottleneck.
Next after 5th gen is drones and maybe there we will not need to buy US machines. Turkey is working on own fighter drones.

Yes they are, but I know Saab is working on some sort of licencing manufactoring with a couple of countries, nothing done yet but it don´t have to be a bottleneck.

The current people running the program in the US want it to last until the late 2080s, which is probably not going to happen. It's probably going to get replaced by 2040 in favor of AI fighter jets that are built from the ground up to be piloted by AI.

It's already happening, drone development is crazy even in Poland. Also Turkey is working on drone fighter jets and boats.
