Point backlinks to domain or inner pages?

I have searched the forum and countless threads but so many users have different opinion and none that have any solid proof, so I figured I'd ask this question once again.

I have been building backlinks to my inner pages, mostly web2.0's, while my domain stands with no domain authority or any of the such due to the amount of backlinks it currently has. I have learned that while the domain increases in backlinks, it also helps the inner pages to rank better.

I build backlinks to inner pages mostly for diversion, as it is unnatural for the homepage get backlinks while the inner pages with the real content does not.

I am with a branded domain, not keyword specific and while my main focus is ranking the inner pages, it is stressful to build countless backlinks to inner pages specifically, then once that ranks I'd have to do the same for other pages and there are over 50. I have been looking at a software to automate this more often, but that is not the threads subject.

1. Should I build backlinks to my main domain more often?
   
2. When building backlinks to the main domain should I include the keyword of the inner pages that I'd like to rank for as well (Not including generic, click here, brand name, here, visit here, etc)?

Its always better to point backlinks to posts/pages unless you are facebook, twitter or other big guns.

The main logic here is people should link to your great article & not to your domain.

You have more than 50 posts so diversify backlinks randomly to all those posts and then shoot few to root domain .

You definitely should link your homepage and your interior pages. The home page is a great place to use raw URL's and "branding" anchors. And if there is not worthwhile content on the home page you should consider adding some! Add some content to the home page besides just a recent post summary index. Or try making a one-page site and send all of the links to the homepage!
