Hello people,

I have been doing dropshipping for almost about a year now and doing fine. Had my struggle in the beginning, but being a digital marketer for over 3 years, I was able to pick up really fast.

I currently do anywhere between $50-$100 a day without scaling much.

Just recently hired a VA to take care of fulfilling the orders, replying to customer’s queries etc. And is how I am now on BHW looking to network and talk to like minded people, helping one another :)

I initially started with POD and used to assist one of my clients. It wasnt my store and I was just assisting, managing almost everything.

Now that my dropshipping is going consistent, I am looking at setting up a new store and decided to make that as a journey thread, sharing my progress and step by step process.

As I am inclined towards POD, am here asking you guys, what do you think, POD or dropshipping? and why?

Thanks :)

any tips for a new dropshipper?
Well, consistency is the key! I would suggest you to give it at least about 2-3 months with a lot of hard work.

The most popular method as am sure you must be aware of is shopify+FB ads. That is what I do and recommend. However, to master the whole process, it is important for you to understand the market and understand the people on FB.

Think like this:
On google- When a user searches say “buy shoes online”, he/she is a potential buyer. But, on fb, you show your ads to people even when they are not really looking to buy anything or your product to be specific. They are on FB just to socialise and to connect with friends & family.

So, do your market research well. Find products which would either hit people’s emotional quotient or solve a problem.

Shopify + Dropshipping + FB ads is indeed one of the best businesses around, if you get it right.

So far this business has been the most revenue generating for me. Hope this motivates you.

It is a good business but your product needs to be innovative/trending.

Hope this helps :)

why not both  just experiment

Haha! Thanks for your suggestion

any tips on product selection?
A product that could solve some kind of a problem is what works the best for me.

For example, teeth whitening device or something like that.

First find a problem, then find a product to solve that problem, You will find your winner :)

Yes, but there is a lot of products can solve the problems. :) I have three questions following:

1. how many products you test to find a winner?
2. what size of your audience usually?
3. How much money you spend to test one product usually?

1. There is no definite answer to this. During my initial days, I still remember that I found my first winner after testing 11 products. And then it just kept on getting better and better. Now, I usually find a winner in just trying 2-3 products.
It gets better with experience.

2. Because I do not scale that high, my audience size is generally between 2,00,000 to 5,00,000. Sometimes less, sometimes more. But that is generally the audience size I begin with.

3. I test my product by running ads for atleast 3 days with a starting budget of $10 a day. Even if I get one sale in 3 days, I let it run for another 2 days. So on and so forth. I strategise my product’s cost keeping this in mind. So even If I just get one sale in the first 3 days, I still will profit at least about $10-$20. That is how I am able to afford to let the ad run after getting just one sale in 3 days. Because the profit from that one sale, covers up the cost for another day or two of ads.

thank you. I do most like you. but my overall ROI is really lower, about 5-15%. I guess my mistake is spending too much on one product. I usually spend $50-$200 on each product and I need to improve my product selection as well, I usually find a winner at the ratio= 1:15+. BTW, your store is a micro niche or general?

Great! Yeah, for some people it works the way you do it. But i just prefer starting slow and taking time to find a winner. This method lasts long and I find it more consistent. There have been days that I spent more than $150 a day on ads with just one sale or even 0 sale. So starting slow and easy works for me.

My store is a micro niche. I have build it around a specific topic and then offer different types of products around that topic.

hey OP two questions:
1. what's POD?
2. are you dropshipping via Shopify or creating designated sites/ LP?

what is POD?
POD is print on demand

1. Print on demand
2. Shopify is a designated platform itself. My store runs on shopify. I have my own site hosted on shopify with my own URL, if that is what you meant.

For your testing process, if you don't have one sale at first two or three days, but you find the product is popular on the market, will you keep testing on other audience and ads or move on to test new product? Do you have an average budget for testing new product?

sorry for lots of questions. :D

No problem!
Generally, I go by 3 to 4 days MAX per product. However, If my gut says that the product is really good and unique, I give it an exception and let it run for a few more days.

However that hardly happens. The reason is, when I have a product And am not sure of what combination of the audience type is going to be the best, I create multiple ad sets for the same product with different targeting. Kill the ones performing bad, continue with the one doing best.

Hi, what is the difference between POD and dropshipping?

POD is Print on demand, where you have the flexibility to kind of create your own designs of your choice.

Dropshipping is pure reselling. Selling someone else’s product as it is.
