plugins and widgets are prebuild objects in figma that designer can use them for making their design more interactive.
most of us think both do same functionality but there is huge difference between them.
plugins : are objects that are non functionable. you can edit them but they not perform certain functionality until you add a prototype. They are primarily used to perform actions like exporting assets, generating design elements, or integrating Figma with other services. Example: Plugins like "Unsplash" for stock images or "Content Reel" for adding text and icons are good examples. They perform specific tasks when activated.
widgets: can perform certain functionality . They are built to offer dynamic, real-time content and provide interactivity within a design file, often as part of a Figma project or presentation. Unlike plugins, widgets are persistent and visible on the canvas. They remain as part of the document and allow for continuous interaction.
